@Noggin , while you're in hospital practice opening the blade and rotating the collar to lock it until it becomes a natural action, might prevent little accidents.....

Mine absolutely does not rotate. It's riveted on the metal collar.

NOs 2-5 dont lock but the one above do.

Mine is an 8 according to the box !!

Sat in locals bar and on next 2 bar stools, small dogs were parked and owners stood up.

So politely chatted about the dogs

Then he asked if I was English.

He was from Wales so we changed languages

He said i was easier to understand in Spanish than English as my Yorkshire accent was so strong

I'd just spent 5 days with Barnsley lads

A mate of mine moved to Wales years back and learnt the lingo. Whenever I went to visit him is Welsh mates would always rib him about his Cockney accent whereas I'd always laugh at how thick his Welsh accent was.

Anyhow, this morning I bumped into Roberto who is a bit of a neighbourhood celeb. He's an old fella, must be knocking 90, who lives round my way and can always be found walking his old greyhound. Roberto has maybe three teeth left in his head and walks at a glacial pace, properly bent over his walking stick, but he's still sharp and he graciously lets me practice a bit of Italian when we talk.
This morning as I approached him he was talking to some young, blond lady. She bade him goodbye as I say hello. He looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and said, 'I still like to talk to the pretty ladies'.
Fair play.

I tried message one of my colleagues on Friday but saw he wasn't on Teams. Figured it must be because of Eid, so let him know I had tried to contact him and signed off wishing him Eid mubarak.

He saw me today and gifted me a box of those lovely Indian sweets.

Update: shared with two colleagues and still feel like I have developed Type 2 diabetes. Talk about sweet! Bloody lovely though.

At 16 I moved out of the family home, about 10 miles to Cornwall.
At the same time my brother migrated to London.

Everytime I see him now he says "u talk like a farmer innit"

The irony is completely lost on him!

Postie delivered a package today. Curious,says I because I don't recall ordering anything.

Turns out,when Mr.Blue was featured on the triples club mag cover in December 25,I was also gifted a 59cm x 32cm poster. Cool surprise.

I'm trying ever so hard not to let the one missing and the one errant apostrophe bother me...much...

I went to the opticians for new glasses today, picked the ones I wanted, added anti scratch coating. €506!!!!!

But the health insurance that my boss has to buy me contributes €400. So I only had to pay €106

Both my sage and thyme have become a bit woody over the last couple of years. Was going to nip to the garden centre and get a coupe of new, young plants but I thought I'd take some cuttings, despite my track record of nurturing plants being comparable to Agent Orange. Be a bit self-sufficient and all that malarkey.

To my surprise the four springs of thyme are showing signs of roots growing in the glass dish they're currently sitting in on the kitchen window ledge and the two cuttings of sage seem to be quite content (i.e. not dead and wilted yet), so I now feel safe to call myself The Plant Whisperer.

I was on call yesterday, had a couple of serious jobs (that's not to denigrate the others, if someone has called an ambulance then it's a serious day for them).

One was to a male pensioner who'd fallen, suffered a head injury with a very serious bleed.

I've never seen so much blood, it looked how, I imagine, a crime scene would.

I did what I could, ambo arrived, patient extricated and loaded.

While the crew were working on the patient, I collected their and my equipment bags, etc.

Two rellies were starting the clearing and cleaning. One noted a large blood clot, said it looked like a placenta.

I mentioned this to the paramedic, said that the patient - especially at his age - might be making medical history.

He replied "I trust my degree more than hers."

Well, amused me. Especially after a couple of hefty calls.

Antler customer service

My trusty Antler cabin case, that has seen me through literally countless long weekends and work trips, finally started to die last year - the handle cracked and broke, so it was still useable, but dodgy.

I got in touch to see if I could buy a new handle (I couldn't), but they told me they still cover cases even without warranty, and mine must be a good ten years old now.

I sent my proof of purchase (thank goodness for email receipts) over, and they're sending me a brand new replacement case.

I'd still like to repair the old one tbf, it feels wasteful to get rid of it, so I might have a nose on eBay for a non OEM one, but I am impressed they're sending me a new one, given that these days they cost more than double what I paid!

And an excellent reason for keeping email receipts, or filing paper copies.

Well as we're all aware with house buying, nothing is ever 100% until its all done.

But if the cards fall right, in 8-12 weeks we should be moving home to this. Its all in the hands of solicitors now
