Citroen were pretty clever at making superb but complicated suspension and braking systems.
Back in the early 70s I rode over a speed bump on Reading University campus as a rear seat passenger in some sort of small car. The experience was painful, bruising both the bones of my arse and the top of my skull. Next day I repeated the experience in a Citroen DS at about twice the speed and barely felt the bump.

I owned a Citroen Xantia estate many years ago. It was probably the most comfortable car I've ever been in, except when one of the suspension spheres failed and all the damping disappeared.
