You are pushing your luck wiring a 2 wire socket anyway. Even in France they have 3 wire sockers, live, neutral and earth. In old money red should be live, black should be neutral, and the earth is green or bare. New work ɓrown is live, blue is neutral and earth is yellow/green striped.

Are you sure the the old 'blue' really is blue? If it is, get thee to a sparky before you do anything else.

It's all different in foreign parts. I have to get an electrician to do my stuff, all the wires are the same colour.

It's straightforward here. I'm no sparky, but can work out simple things :)

This is the FUF, with her luck the apartment would burn down, the substation explode, and the entire French nuclear power network would melt down .......😋😋😋

I never trust colours anyway, most sparkies on building sites are cowboys. After the 3rd switched neutral I found (the hard way!) I test all of them with a meter.

LOL

TBF, I'm not a bad amateur sparky (my brother was a proper one, so I always had someone to check with in the UK if I was worried.

But out here, something on this particular socket isn't 'normal', even for France!!!

That's one I haven't done. Had a couple of Renaults and hated them. But the Renault minibuses were more comfy than the VW ones!!

TBF, I've read a lot of comments elsewhere about French electrics, so, whilst peeved, am not overly surprised!!

Even with old wiring, blue was/is neutral
Probably old one is red +, black/ earth
New one will be brown +, blue neutral and green/ yellow earth.
You should have rcd in the fuse box, so if you wire it wrong it'll go pop anyhoo!

I've had loads of them, they're not as bad as the reputation suggests.

My current daily driver is a 2000 106, I think it was made a few years earlier as it has 3 stud hubs.

Before that, I had a 2001 307 HDi, never missed a beat.

It also sounds like you have bought a lighting extension rather than a proper 3 wire socket extension.

PSA, all the one company, mechanically and electrically they're the same, a 106 is basically a Saxo, a 307 is a Xsara.

Half the beauty of driving old froggy stuff is that parts for certain models attract a premium, but the same part for a Citroen, will be half the price. 😉

The birds have discovered my red currant bushes, they did have a lot of red currants on them. A bit horse, door, etc but netting going up next week.

You'll find out how crafy the birds are when problem solving. I tried various things for a very long time in a vain attempt to prevent crows and Starlings necking all the bird food, rather than the little birds I favour. The bastards are still winning.

We seem to have exclusively tits, sparrows and goldfinches on the feeders (fat balls, mixed-seed, sunflower seed - all hanging from a pole at headheight). Starlings and crows not at all interested. Black Redstarts and Pied Wags look inerested but never take anything. Pigeons and Collared Doves too thick and fat, find it easier to scoop up what drops onto the grass.

Sunflower seed is the clear winner throughout the year, the others seem to vary with the seasons and mating times. Big uptick in the take of fat ball eating when mating season started.

Those modern zips with the plastic water resistant strip over the teeth, poxy things always fail and jam up.

I’ve had a Halversson main and both pockets and an Everlast hoody go and now my 18month old Merlin jacket has fucked the zip. :angry-cussingblack:

The socket is a proper three wire jobbie. But it seems I bought lighting wire to connect the two sockets, so need to rectify that before I ask the sparky to come and look!! :angelic-green: :angelic-green: :angelic-green:
