I've not the language skills to discuss swearing yet. I'd like to know if there's a German equivalent of 'Fuck, the fucking fuckers fucked.'

That'd probably be a full paragraph of just 1 word.

Unless you're flying under the radar you'll need to find out. Assuming you're resident you'll get 90 days to swap your UK license for a German one.

It's the same if you've taken a UK registered vehicle over, 90 days to swap the plates. Unless it's something special, if it's anything like here it'll be easier to sell anything UK related and buy German.
I CBA to anything under the radar, any gains wouldn't be worth the brainwork.

The plan is to sell the UK registered van and buy a German regged one. The driving position being on the wrong side doesn't bother me, possibly because I'm used to bad visibilty having driven bulkheaded panel vans for so many years. The workarounds have become instinctive.

Thanks for the licence info, I hadn't looked into that yet.

The compound nouns are very challenging. I can work them out when written down but spoken that are more difficult. Not helped by my partial deafness.

It's the versatility of the word I'm after. Is there any other word in any language that can fill so many roles?

When I start lessons again, one of the full lessons will be on swearing in French and the comparisons to english    I know you can use "putain" for anything and everything, but I'd like a bit more variation    (and to know which ones I really can't use in 'general' :angelic-green: :angelic-green: )

I'm told swearing is an interesting linguistic topic. Unlike most other parts of a language you aren't usually taught it formally. I've a Polish acquaintance who swears in German. She's a native Polish speaker but moved to Germany when she was of an age to start swearing, secondary school ish so she first learned her swearing in German.

My grandson is just two years old and he’s obsessed with my old Porsche. I drive over there in it just so we can spend half an hour walking around it holding my hand and him pointing out all the things he knows the words for. It’s half an hour at least of him pointing at every light on the car and saying “Gangads light”, then “Gangads wheel” ad infinitum.
It’s one of my favourite things in the world at the moment.

The other day he found a small light that none of us had noticed before and the whole house had to come out one by one as he pointed out this new light - “Gangads more lights”.
He was so proud.

It’s the little things :)

Went to see a mates Eagles tribute band tonight, about 150 mile round trip. Took the Explorer ST which has the same headlights at the Explorers the cops drive. Had WAY too much fun on the freeway coming home by rocketing up behind people *making good progress* who panicked & moved over thinking they were about to get lit up & receive a Performance Award.

We officially own a cat. No former keepers have come forward, so we get to keep her 🥳

Took her to the vets today for a microchip and her first jab. ☺️

No,no,no. You are not a cat owner, you have been chosen by the cat overlords to partake in the cat distribution system.
No ur plaice hooman.
This one has a home a couple of houses away, but likes to perform random spot checks on the grounds of curiosity, then check for reasonably comfortable dossing locations.

Two animals walking along a pavement.

One craps, the other picks it up and carries it.

Which animal is really in charge?
