So, due to the fact that our local charvers have turned the park into a close approximation of Gaza ny dog wont currently go anywhere near it at night so Ive just taken my little guy uptown for a walk.
He's fine on a morning, not so much on a night.

Anyway, this is Carlisle Cathedral, at night.

So, were getting a bypass, this is about the area I used to go start off when I went lamping with a mate and now theres a mahhosive bridge being built. One of those historical for this area kind of situations, so I took a few pictures.
One of those clear bluesky days that hardly ever happens here.

The bypass will go from J42 of the M6, to the south of Carlisle and by Durdar, past the racecourse and over the river Caldew by Cummersdale (where I took the photo) then by Peter Lane to meet up with the A 689 more or less wbere it joins Wigton Road so yeah.
I'm not sure what it will end up being called and if it will just be an extension of the 689.
What you upto in smellytoon (Wigton)?

Kind of makes sense for the folk heading south or coming up.

Just outside Wigton is our Convoy parts man. He seems to have a warehouse full of NOS and getting some panels made in Türkiye also. If i buy anything large ill go pick it up on the passing when heading south or back home.

Have the BBC shares in scaremongering? Every little weather event now needs a colour coded warning.

Don't go out, you'll die horribly, there may be snow or ice on the footpath. Reporters all around the country reporting on absolutely nothing out of the ordinary at all,but...it may be coming.

Meanwhile in the real world,it's a typical January day, grey and 3°c. No snow,no ice.

Be afraid be very afraid,it'll soon be warnings to slather on the factor 50,or risk watching your moles grow from exposure to the dangerous sun.

Walked home from the train station last night and it was really cold and the sleet was starting to come down. I expected to wake up to a white out this morning but fortunately no sign of it anywhere, but a very flooded garden!

Theres a "Garden Village" planned ot the south side of Carlisle so the main thing it will do is provide good access to the west and the M6 from that.

Does yer Convoy chap just do Convoy bits or other makes also?

Mostly old brit stuff. DAF, Leyland, Some Triumph, Freight Rover also. Sean Turnbull is his name and if you think he may be handy and you do facebook his page is here https://www.facebook.com/groups/448585015965405

Quick edit. Are you not in the building trade? Sean i am sure is also a Gas and Pluming engineered what he keeps his hand in.

On Saturday 8th March 1941 London’s Cafe de Paris was packed with servicemen on leave and rich socialites. When the air raid sirens started, believing they were safe in the underground dance hall, everyone just carried on dancing. Then the bomb hit.

A special constable named Ballard Berkeley was one of the first on the scene. He saw Snakehips Johnson, the band leader, decapitated and elegantly dressed people still sitting at tables seemingly almost in conversation, but stone dead. He was shocked to see looters, mingling with the firemen and the police, cutting the fingers from the dead to get at their expensive rings. Berkeley later became an actor, best known for playing the major in Fawlty Towers
