Been busy the last few days oop north at DVSA site in Chadderton doing my dreaded CBT1 instructors course over 2 days. It has a huge failure rate on the first attempt and you are only allowed 2 attempts at it in 12 months before an entire year wait for the next one so safe to say it comes with a lot of pressure to get through as its the step to the next ticket which is the DAS instructor on bigger bikes.
Got put with a couple of other instructors and we stay as a 3 carrying out lessons and supervising each other as it we are the boss of the firm assessing our employees. Not fun at all and a bit of a head fuck.
Finished yesterday afternoon and by the time everything was written up it was 1600 before we were taken in 1 at a time and given the news. Out of 2 groups of 3 we had a 66% pass rate which is very high and thankfully i was 1 of the 4 who passed (one lad was shitting it as it was his second attempt)
whoop fucking whoop
I had my Fazer in the back of a van as its a fair old trip for me and weather Sunday on way up was shit over the Pennines. I was going to drive back Tuesday but after the lack of sleep for the previous few days as not able to switch off i found a Premier Inn, had a big meal and a few pints and slept like a baby. Drove the van back today and now back at home and feet up and chilled and happy i dont have to do that again
Technically i can now set up myself as an Authorised Training Body and just do CBT training and Renewals
Well done for getting through.
I did the 2 days cbt followed by the half day DAS the following day a few years ago at Cardington with another instructor from the school I worked at.
It was a tough 3 days, probably the most stressful thing I have ever done.
After the first couple of hours, the assessor had us doubting our own names. They twisted everything you said and done.
Out of the two groups, I was the only one that passed the 2 day cbt in my group, my mate and another 1 guy passed in his group. Everyone else went home without their downtrained tickets.
Luckily myself and mate both passed the1/2 day Das the following day and came home with both certificates.
Until you actually go through it you don't really appreciate how tough it is and failure rates are very high.
It also lets you see how well or badly prepared other candidates are.
Good luck with Das when you do it. I found the 1/2 day is a lot easier.
