My best friends says these things (I like winter) and has holidayed in Iceland, Finland and other cold, dark places - we have a fun argument about it all winter long :P

Don't need air conditioning.

Don't need a snow blower.

There's a few quid saved at least

Been a very slow first day back at work. The sum of a couple of emails is what I've managed. Working for a manufacturer, we are going to be stuck in the crisis for the next 6-12 months again and I'm not sure if I will want to put up with another year of delays.

I could certainly do with better summers. The last few years we seem to have a few days summer not months! But i'd like to keep the wet and grey winters and never have white ones. For me, snow is horrible cold crap that bleaches the landscape and spoils every view and ruins transport and even makes walking a pain. You snow loving lunatics can have my share! :D

Sod going down south it sounds right miserable. The past two years must have been the best summers we have had since i was a kid. Never felt the need to run away from the weather but hey, each to there own. BTW dry and blue sky here. Fucking cold mind you but for the time of the year i would prefer to have a foot of snow outside.

It was 15c when I got in the car this morning. By the time I'd driven to the hospital, the sun was doing its job and jumped to 20c :)

New neighbours like to keep themselves to themselves and put a new higher fence up,but didn't take the old one down even though its theirs! We were :angry-argument: over it. Don't really know what to do, take the old one down or put a new higher one in?!

Decking was supposed to be replaced with composite stuff last year but covid delayed it.

Just jet-wash it then paint it.

It's 10 x 3m, that would be one boring job. I'd rather pay to have it replaced! :D

Pressure wash once or twice a year, even the manufacturers recommend that.

And I had the grippy stuff used on the steps, just in case.

Yup, its bloody lethal. I've got a tiler working here at the moment and I've had to put down cardboard to stop him slipping over on it. The wife likes the decking but I hate it.I wanted to cast a slab there, but she was against it. One good thing is when I've spilt oil on the decking,I tell her to stop moaning as its preservative. I wouldn't get away with that on concrete!

Pressure wash? Painting? How uncouth. The people who supplies ours specifically recommended AGAINST pressure washing cause it drives water into the fibres of the wood and makes it swell and go slimy.

We're supposed to oil our decking twice a year and sand it every couple of years but TBF we've been remiss in keeping up with it. I'm gonna be hiring a big old sander from HSS this year I reckon.

People ask and pay me to do it now and then so who am i to argue. Only had it go slimy once TBH but that was old and covered in moss and i dont know if made a difference but also later in the year. Around the October time. Not really a great fan of the stuff and prefer some nice paving slabs

Well, most of the boards on my current decking were originally bought in 1999 and transferred to the new one 6 years ago. Perhaps being raised, so well drained and aired helps?
