Mrs.Skub had been at her hairdressers on Friday, today we took a call from him to say he's tested positive for Covid. Just what we need right now. We went for a PCR test this evening and we're grounded until a negative result comes through.
The worst part is,I was up with my Dad in the morning, before the news came through,so the state he's in at the moment would be a death sentence if I've given him the pox.
No symptoms for me or the missus yet, hoping we got away with it.

I'd assume he was wearing a mask?
Oh and good luck

Been out to dinner with Mrs CJ at a local fish restaurant, while we still can.
The grilled Gurnard was excellent, but the whole experience was let down byMrs CJ pinching most of the White Rjoja.

Mad how tiring work is when you haven't done it for soooo long!!! Good job I love my job! LOL
4th long day in a row. Which won't feel so bad once I'm used to it again (as long as the tourists are allowed back)
Today was different - being a shuttle bus (navette) between two areas in Les Arcs. Interesting cos I know virtually nothing about Les Arcs. Brilliant because I got to talk French to random people, so, more practice

(Summer will be ace - once I meet bikers, I'll get loads of practice!!

)
Spent my down time today planning (ok, not much planning, but lots of thinking about the plan!) - tomorrow morning I plan to go for a little (maybe long!) ski tour. Then ski down for a coffee, hopefully meet friends and get first lifts!!
Trying so hard not to stress about stuff, I think that after the ski I need to sleep long, cos I reckon being tired is reducing my ability 'not' to worry!!
But I'm sooooooo looking forward to a ski tomorrow

Sunday's PCR test came through negative and today's lateral flow test was also negative.
Hopefully the rest of the week will remain so. Looking like a narrow escape.

I've had a freaking awesome day!!!
Didn't get up at 4am as planned to go ski touring. I woke up and reset the alarm (for 5am and then 6am) cos I lay there and thought, "can I reasonably expect to walk to the top of the mountain in time to see the sun rise?" I decided I couldn't!! LOL TBF, if I could have made it up there, I wouldn't have seen the sun rise before the lifts opened (forgot it was the shortest day of the year!!) and the whole point is to walk up and ski down before anyone else is on the piste!!! But the way I feel now, there isn't a hope in hell I'd have made it to the top!!
So - I got up at six. Faffed about sorting touring stuff, trying to remember what I used to take etc. Started walking from the snow front at 7.45 and got to where I used to stop at about 8.40. Took some photos on the way - started in the dark and forgot to take the proper camera, so the first photos weren't any good! But some of them are proper lovely! Even if they are just phone ones. Was too cold to wait for the sunrise (and would have been there about another hour or more!!

) so skied back down to have a hot choc at my favourite little coffee place - the one with the stroppy anti english woman there. But I know she doesn't work early!!
Had a chat with the boss there and apologised. He was fine and understood why I'd left and been miffed. He did say he'd talked to her and she just says "why doesn't she speak in English". He told me she just doesn't get that I live here all the time and need to speak French! LOL BUT, whilst in there, I saw a friend that I haven't seen for at least two years. And we talked in French for about 20 mins. Including agreeing that we'll go biking in the summer - although he says that as he has a cruiser, he's not very fast (round corners!! LOL) - he also congratulated me on my spoken French

So, proper bonus! Also talked to a random French bloke that recognised me, think we've chatted in there before when the resort was open, can't remember who he is!! LOL
Then met a friend to ski with. Found out that actually, despite making the ski tour pretty short, my legs (and TBF, my brain) were not good enough for much skiing!! Did a lovely gentle fall on a red that I generally love!! LOL No damage - except to my pride. It's sodding difficult to get touring skis off on a red slope and even more difficult to stand up and get them back on again!!
We had another coffee after an hours skiing and whilst there, some ski instructor friends let me know they were at their usual lunch stop. Headed down there as not seen them for nearly 2 years. Bloody brilliant. Conversation was probably 60/40 French/English. They were both so kind and really impressed with my ability to have a conversation - as were the restaurant owners!!
Came home and got changed, then got the bus (happy days, hot bus driver was on the one I didn't miss!! LOL) to the next village down to meet a friend for a coffee. Then back home.
Done some chores. Got some paperwork to do for work. Then early to bed. I don't have an early start but I reckon it will be a LONG day!! LOL
I'll probably start a pictures thread cos I take loads around here and it's probably simpler to put them all in one place!!
All in all. From a seriously stressed time, I've managed to have a really good day

I had one of those great rides into work. The one where you catch every, well most, green lights. The gaps in the traffic open up and you're filtering without braking. No cyclists cutting me up. No meandering pedestrians. London is like a ghost town and it's heaven to ride though, just had to
keep 'em peeled for Plod. Cant wait for lunchtime when I head off home again!

Took my StepMothers shopping to her. When I got there I found she was low on butter. Went to 3 supermarkets and the queues were horrendous. Ended up in a little Co-op and managed to get her some, but that took over an hour! On the plus side, I had a nice drive there and back listening to Xmas songs!

I went for a little ski this morning. Well, I had a proper strop on so got up and started making pastry and sorting stuff for a baking session!! THEN I went skiing. Still a bit wobbly but being on the mountain always helps. Except sitting on a mountain cafe terrace and seeing a helicopter come in low and slow and land. He was there for a LOOOOONG time. We really don't think they were having a picnic (there was a pisteur skidoo by the copter) so just hoping that, if nasty, the injury wasn't as bad as the long wait made it seem
Baked some mince pies - too much filling so they stuck to the tin

Made a load of gingerbread men, girls, trees, stars and hearts!!!
About to have another go at mince pies!!

Got in my car the, other day and got dripped on! So today I clean out the roof drains and yes one was clogged, and then treated the roof rubbers to some gummi pfledge! Job Jobbed!
Then took most of the Xmas decs down and now we're off to Chelmsford to return some Xmass 0resents that don't fit or aren't wanted etc. It was going to be a roof down drive as it's been a lovely sunny day here but now it's clouding over!

The girlfriend decided my kitchen needed realigning!! So a new small trolley thing was purchased, built and she then moved everything around. Don’t let on but it’s a massive improvement. Lots more worktop space than I had before.
We then took all the Xmas deccys down and put them in the loft.
She’s headed home now so sat on my own, pondering a ride on the bike to feast on a Maccy’s at the end.
Also pondering setting up a taxi business in and around my village as there is one but he’s very old and doesn’t do much. Looking at insurance and what rules govern the council area I live in.
Happy new year all.
Mick
