First day off for ages and it's feckin' pissing down.....and I'm on dog walking duties.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

eBay notification saying "offer expired, what's your next move?" on an offer which a seller offered, because I'm watching an item.
The seller made an offer, why should I have a move? Next move? I never made any moves.

Just picked the bike up from the shop. I paid them to take it for the ITV(MOT)
Speedo glass was badly damaged. I trust the shop but they employed someone to ride it over.
After a while they agreed to get a new cover.
I spend lots there, so it's a good job they did.

They flipped it doing a wheelie, repaired the fairing with spares but didn't have an old speedo cover lying around.

Carnies. Circus folk, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.
To be honest, I just stole that from a similar thread on another forum, but it so perfectly describes a couple of them who I know

The sort of people that when you meet them make you want to lose faith in people generally. We just watched a couple drive their car in to another car in a car park. I went over to tell them they scraped the bumper and the wheel and they got and and took a look and said that they deal with it so I left them to it. They waited until I’d gone and then moved their car. Lovely.
I gave my name and number as a witness to the owner of the car.

Buying a van in Spain. My T6 will shortly be going back to the UK to be sold and I'd like another van to replace it. I'd like something like the old Caddy I had in the UK, a 2.0 diesel Highline (top spec) with a giddy 140hp, cruise control, that sort of thing. When the Spanish buy vans they go proper poverty spec, you can't believe it's possible to have a vehicle with so little in the way of creature comfort and horse power. And fuck me do they know how to charge for them.

The second hand market is keen here as vehicles don't rot and rust like UK.Pirahna wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:35 pm Buying a van in Spain. But my pals do whince at second hand van prices. Last 2 times they've just bought new.

Tried to subscribe to Discovery+
VPN is working. Got it set up on the tablet. Create account. Pay by card. Refused.
Only, there's no notification on the Revolut app. So I try again, and again. Still no notifications on the app. Still refused.
Briefly talked to a robot 'helper' on Discovery+. Then it emailed the query to a human (possibly) who sent a reply very quickly saying its an issue with my bank. Which I don't believe as I've had no notifications on the app that anything was trying to take a payment. Responded with the info that there is no refusal on the app, so please could they check again. No response so far

I've had similar problems before and it was down to the bank, I'd call your bank and ask if they saw attempted transactions.Noggin wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 8:54 am Tried to subscribe to Discovery+

Have you checked Discovery+ works with the VPN? Some services block them as soon as they know about them.

I have no real idea how to contact Revolut. It's the reason I avoided that card for so long, it seems virtually impossible to actually get to 'chat' with someone if there is no actual transaction to discussMussels wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 9:26 amI've had similar problems before and it was down to the bank, I'd call your bank and ask if they saw attempted transactions.Noggin wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 8:54 am Tried to subscribe to Discovery+

I'm sure I've read on the expat pages that people have succeeded with the VPN and Discovery+, but, this is me!! And so far it's a shit day (damage to van & one of two flights has arrived, the second will be another hour or more before the passengers are through ) - so, there's a good chance that once I get home and try again it will all work. Just doesn't help while away the boredom whilst I'm waiting!! LOL
It's the Express VPN, which is apparently a good one

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Spent the weekend sanding back the wood flooring in the study. It was a bit of a ballache but after taking it back to the bare wood, priming it and applying four coats of lacquer it looks bloody good.
Why, you may ask, would this boil my piss?
Well, it's really highlighted the fact that the hallway wooden floor really, really needs to same TLC, only instead of that being a small, 3m x 3m room, it's a whopping 70-odd square meters.
Fucksticks. I suppose that'll be the next job on my to-do list.....

Finished putting the Rockster together after doing the clutch slave cylinder, so naturally I fired it up... Only to have it hunt and splutter. Wtaf?
I know I did mess with the throttle cable a bit to get at the rear frame mounting stud, but I didn't think I'd done anything egregious,....
Fiddled with the cables for 5 minutes and the bike only got worse... Then noticed that the wires at each throttle body are frayed to fuck!!! GAAH!
It's a pain in the arse job to swap the cableset, but I've done it before...
Hey ho, hey ho, it's off to Motorworks I go!

Had that with the GS after I'd had the tank off (as did Hairy Ben with his). That was just that we'd both disturbed one of the cables at the cylinder end. (I phoned HB and he explained - 30 seconds later...fixed ).Rockburner wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 8:06 pm Finished putting the Rockster together after doing the clutch slave cylinder, so naturally I fired it up... However, if the cables are frayed, if it's the same thing they'd still need replacing.

Yeah. The cable outer being dislodged was the first thing I checked, it often happens.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 8:11 pmHad that with the GS after I'd had the tank off (as did Hairy Ben with his). But this time it's definitely knackered cables. The main throttle cable wasn't returning correctly, they're that bad.
