I had one of those. The handling was lovely until they swapped the original WP shock for a Showa as one of the many recalls. All the shock did then was overheat and make the bike a bit wallowy.

I changed mine to a Penske race shock tag i pick up in the US. Way better than the std set up. But I am yet to be convinced that Erik Buell’s insistence of a pull system, made any sense

IIRC it was all about "Mass centralisation" in general, and, specifically regarding the shock location, pulling the mass of the shock into the middle of the bike more, and bringing it down lower. (Also it was copying the Britten iirc, albeit without rose-joints...)

Probably should go in the 'orrible Ebay thread (Imo) but maybe someone thought it looked good. Single front disk and a TLR engine. No fanks. Some pricey bits and I'm sure it cost a lot to build but.. yeah it's no looker

One of our lot bought this last week. A bike that ever did divide more opinions than the bollotixs threads.

IIRC my old BMW dealer had a K1 around 2008 that had been sold, ridden home, put in the garage and never ridden again. Had about 12 miles on it.

It brushed up quite nicely.

Definitely Marmite though.

I was around when they came out and wondered WTF BMW were thinking! But I kinda lioke the funky looks today!

Released about the same time as the Norton Rotary F1. Which looks awesome.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. It looks less bonkers now than then.
