Wifey does all her computing on a Macbook Air which must be ten years old, it was the highest spec of everything when we bought it and it's been faultless. It takes OS upgrades in it's stride, battery life is still excellent, I'd deffo buy another.
My Dell laptop is five years old and has a similar spec, the battery was fucked after three years and it won't take the latest Windows OS. I've just had to fit a new battery and fire it up for the first time in two years. I've being using a Samsung tablet since the Dell died which has been adequate for daily use. If I were still working I'd choose Windows every time.

Wifey went to bed early, I stayed up a bit later then went to bed in another room as I sometimes do. She wandered in about 90 minutes ago, decided I was snoring to much for her stay, woke me up to tell me then buggered off. So here I am at 04:20, writing shit on here.

Not loud at all. She came in and got into bed with me, woke me up then left. I've no idea what woke her but it wasn't my snoring.

I used an iMac for years.Again, it was just faultless. Started up instantly and ran Adobe products better even though no onecan tell me why. I now have a comparable dell which after my complaints they upgraded with a £1000 worth of graphics card and its shite compared to the mac? I don't really have an allegiance to either,I just want a good image processor and windows PCs ain't one.

Being pleased with myself for not drinking for 5 days.
I'd got to the stage where I could drink half a litre of rum of an evening so I decided maybe it was time for a break.
5 days in and I'm pleased. But I really shouldn't be, it should be normal to not drink and I shouldn't be keeping count

All depends what you are trying to do I guess, my work involves much jumping around between different applications so I like the apps to be side by side. I was running through how to make a Mac do this with our support guy, we got as far as him suggesting a specialist app would fix one problem with a $300 per year subscription and me asking if the company would be ok paying for these apps to do what Windows does out of the box.
In a day we went from 'Mac is the only hardware supported by the company' to me going in tomorrow to pick up my new Windows laptop.
The downside is I know the Dell laptop he's planning to give me is one of those Dell lemons with buggy drivers but I think that will be easier to fix than an Apple OS.

Sycamore seedlings.
Sycamores really are the Japanese Knotweed of the tree kingdom. Every autumn they spread millions of their winged seeds and in springtime there's a carpet of the bloody things growing everywhere. Last year must have been perfect growing conditions (or seed producing conditions) as I've never seen so many of the things fall into our garden. Of course this translates to a bumper crop of the little bastids that I have to pull up before they get established.
Harrumph....

I feel for you. Our previous house had sycamores nearby, and a landscaped are covered with pebbles. Quite sizeable pebbles, not gravel, and sizeable pebbles have sizeable gaps that sycamore seeds drop into. In the season every morning was a patrol of the area to pick out 50 fresh seedlings that had appeared overnight. Failure to get them promptly just led to more trouble, those bastards grow roots just as quickly as shoots.

If it was mine, it would already be firewood...
I'm seriously thinking about ring-barking the bloody thing if I could do it without being seen.

Pfft that's nothing.
Next door's tree keeps dropping little twisted leaves on my car windscreen. Every time I get in now I have to remove them first, otherwise it's streak city.
As soon as my long reach tree saw thibg arrives them overhanging branches shall be overhanging no more!

Imagine how pissed off you'd be if the tree that was dropping bits on your windscreen was 3 doors down and still carpet-bombing you...

It's quite sweet really. She wandered about the house looking for you for a snuggle and got into bed and you just snored. (How do you know your snoring isn't loud BTW?)

I have an expert on everything who assures me that I rarely snore and if I do it's not loud.

I put up a thread about the Barry Sheene film.
The most glamorous British bike racer of all time. Nobody seemed to care.
But over in the wanker forum, folk are fighting and arguing as though their lives depend on it.
Politics seems more important than bikes on here.
