My mate's a tiler. I'll send him round.

Pour another layer of self-levelling glop over the whole lot, adhesive and all.

I'm filing that away in case I am ever convinced to do similar by SWMBO :)

I'm guessing that, or similar, is what someone else will have to do? I've proper got the arse with the whole thing, so will just see what happens when they turn up Monday. If they can't do it, then just reschedule and I'll find someone to sort the floor out. Its the trouble with Wrens, they don't do the whole job, just farm it out to one guy who uses different trades he needs, but he still gets them to contact you individually, which is exactly what we didn't want really. Oh and of course their prices come in on top of the fitting charges, so you need some financial contingency factored into your budget. I hope I'm wrong but I can see this getting a bit sour next week! :?

Here y'go. You could even have poured it over the old tiles. :D

https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense ... -5kg/27894

Edit: Clean it up, give the floor a coat of PVA, put some wood strips down in the doorway(s). Check the sq metres, mix up the latex mix, pour. Dry in 3 hours. Or, phone the tiler and see if he'll do it if you get the compound. I'd still do the PVA thing first...saves time.

Something I found out a bit late is that screed is not self-levelling but rather it smooths out an uneven floor.
I had the whole bungalow done before we moved in, floor guys lifted all the 70s tiles in every room and put screed down before LVTs. It looked level but when it came to adjusting doors and placing a fish tank the looks turned out to be deceiving.

Top tip, don’t use pva… it reactivates when / if it gets wet and is pretty useless as a base for tiling adhesive if left to completely dry out.

SBR is the go to solution (sic) these days but is typically brushed on the floor before the adhesive is mixed, the tiler has a brew and left until it has gone to the tacky stage.

Photos would help give some pointers but ideally you want the floor as flat, level and smooth as possible before even thinking of self-levelling compound. My bathroom timber floor was around 10mm away from level from one side to the other, thankfully the adhesive sorted that after I tile boarded the whole lot to hopefully prevent future movement… time will tell

You can come with me and have a free tour of the hanger, I'm allowed to take people but Mrs Potter and the kids would rather go shopping with my credit card.
What you up at Biggin? Memorial flight?

Good point but iirc PVA is/was what they use/d before pouring the self-levelling stuff but SBR may be better for that as well? TP already has some (slightly chiselled) self-levelling stuff down so it should be levellish, just needs a skim over to cover the handiwork/adhesive. Maybe patch in the chiselled bits first. You can cover underfloor heating mats/cables/vinyl tiles etc with it so it should be ok.

Disclaimer: I'm not a tiler/builder/kitchen fitter. :D (But I'm now going back into Mouseopolis to remove/lay some more insulation...I look like a Ghostbuster...and I may be gone some time.......)

Mended an Ikea day bed, the metal variety. A leg had broken off at the top, by the holes that connect the back to side. Found a piece of tube the right od, trimmed it down ('twas part of an old weed burner), fitted it, redrilled the holes, welded it (pigeon shit, like all my welds, and trimmed it to length...painted it then bought it in.
At that point I noticed (or rather, SWMBO noticed ) that I had cut it off 7 cm short.
Still trying to work out how.........

A friend wanted to get an early CT (MOT) done on his car - he said it was due in April (new ish car, three years old in April) but he doesn't want to take a day off work/skiing the for the CT

So, as I needed to go down to the valley for three different appointments today, he booked the CT after the last one and I drove it down (bonus for me as I didn't need to ride the bike in -5 at 8am and bonus for him that he didn't need to take time off from work)

After the French lesson - last thing on my list! - I went to the CT station, took in the info for the reservation and the V5 and the guy looked at the paperwork

and said "it doesn't need one"

"I know, but my friend wants it done early, I think he wants to sell it"

"No, you don't understand, it is too young, it doesn't need one"

"What do you mean it's too young"

"The first CT is at 4 years, which is April 2023"

"Ooooo - it's my friends first car, I think in the UK it's at 3 years!!"

Payment cancelled, paperwork given back to me, I left!!

I text him and said they won't do it cos it's too early and he phoned me up and said, but I don't want to do it in April. He seemed a bit confused when I said no, not April next year, the year after!! LOL

Either way, it's not the first time I've driven his Audi Q3 and I'm still not impressed!! It's like a boat. Suspension is too stiff. Too many gadgets (I did learn to turn off the 'keep between the lines' gizmo today with saved arguing with the steering wheel anytime I cut a white line!!!)

Probably a good thing it would never suit what I need a 4 wheel vehicle for!! But it's kind that he let me use it sometimes!!

Went to work on the ZH2, it was chilly, came home from work, it was colder as in 1C! I like my heated grips and gloves. Gloves on MAX and grips on 2 out 3. Toasty fingers.

Reliable heated gear must be one of the biggest leaps forward in recent years. That and Pinlock visor inserts.

The term 'waterproof',when applied to jackets and troos appears to be as open to interpretation as ever, though.

That and that, plus waterproof boots and gloves.

People seem to just accept it  Dealers and manufacturers should expect to offer decent warranties and to be challenged on failures.

Most consistently waterproof gear I've had was, mainly, 'boil in the bag' pvc type stuff.

It amazes me that manufacturers still build suits with seams in the crotch that can get stretched.
