For the first time ever over here, I met up with a fellow biker for a coffee!! We had talked about going for a short ride, but by the time we met we were both pretty darn cold! Where she lives is in the sun in the morning but about 10kms of the journey in the valley was at 4 degrees. For me, it was probably about 4 degrees at home and I had to leave the back road in favour of the main road as it gets even colder on the back road!!! Anywhere we could have headed from Bourg was either up a mountain, so no good cos of the risk of ice or the cold; or back along one of the really cold roads to then come back again, so that was not encouraging either!!

The cafe we met at is in the sun and so we sat and chatted for a bit and then rode back to our different homes!

So, my little baby Monster made a younger, taller, skinnier friend!!! LOL (Luckily for me, my friend is only younger than me!! LOL)

Image

Jenni let me ride the MT-07, not far , just around the two roundabouts either side of where we met. I could get into some serious trouble on that. Probably a good thing I have something smaller, older and a smidge less 'flickable'!!

It has a blooming LOVELY sounding exhaust - Termignoni. It really insists that you 'blip' a LOT!! LOL If/when things sort out here, I can see me having a look at those!!!

My friend was saying that she liked the tyres on hers but didn't really use them (well, the edges) and I was about to agree and looked at mine - for all that I don't think I lean the Monster, the tyres tell a different story!! Must remember to take a photo tomorrow!! LOL But I was very very surprised as I really don't feel as if I'm leaning much at all. But then, most of the roads are wiggly, so I guess there's an element of lean going on without thinking about it

I am well chuffed in general. I am able to relax through most of the hairpins now (there's 4 or 5 that are usually damp, so I tend to do them very very slowly and gently cos of the temperatures. But most of the others I'm trying to relax and ride them along the lines of the old me, but without so much power!! LOL If I ever get back to Cadwell, Barn should be simple as I have 11 downhill right handed hairpins to do every time I go to the valley!! :banana-dance: :banana-dance:

Also, I realised today that going from here to Bourg is only about 2 or 3 miles less than Wells (where I used to live) to Bristol!!! :o :o Here we just get on and do the journey. Back in the UK, Wells to Bristol was a treat and sometimes a bit of a mission!!

Anyway - I'm set with a girlie mate to ride with in the spring. Sadly her bloke and his friends all ride Harley Hog type bikes, but at some point I'll meet people that ride 'proper' bikes as well as Jenni!! But at least riding with her will keep me a bit slower for a while longer :angelic-green: :angelic-green:

It's been a good day so far :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers:

We went into town to get our booster jabs. Was surprised to see the town had Xmas fayre on. Strange costumed people on stilts, that Singing Nun on his drivable thing, kids rides, German food stalls selling BBQ'd bratwurst and English places seeing Yorkshire pud rolls. Xmas songs belting out everywhere. Kids really enjoying themselves. Twas aces!

The lack of 'chicken strips' is making me ridiculously happy!! LOL And the fact that I am feeling more and more comfortable on the bike, despite the temperatures!!

Ok, the line of dust in the first pic kinda detracts from the lack of unused tyre at the edges, but - happy Nogster here :D Even more because they are pretty much the same - which I totally did NOT expect!! :D :bblonde:

10 days ago I didmy back in moving Öznür's boat off and onto the beach. It's been uncomfortable so today I took advantage of the wellness centre in this hotel, had half an hour in the sauna, a hamam and a massage.

I feel great and the baked fish for dinner this evening was lovely. For an AI hotel the variety and quality of the food is superb. The staff are friendly and helpful, the place is spotless and I can thoroughly recommend the Liberty Hotel Lara in Antalya.

Conti Road Attacks?

I had a bike with the Trail Attacks, same tyre/compound only the tread was twice as deep. They needed no warming up, plenty of grip from cold if you were brave enough.

Yup, Road Attacks. TBF, I would never choose to put Contis on anything after I had a pair delaminate on the BB. But these have been brilliant on the Monster in the bastard cold!! I haven't found ice and have avoided frost, but the temperatures have been zero (or lower) on some bits of road and it's been fine (I have ridden very slow and very upright when it's that temp and not 100% dry tarmac!!)

It's going in the garage this week for sure - forecast of proper snow at the end of the week, so will have to put it away!!

But I have the winter to work out what tyres to put on in the spring for hot twisty roads! Mostly cos the Contis are very very old!! LOL I'll use them for the early spring while I build up confidence again but need something to deal with the heat in the summer :D :D

Finished a weekend of University Residential for BA in Theology, then had a lovely ride on the Speed Triple to return a back pack left in the boot of my car. Cracking nice bike and ideal for my style of riding, ULEZ compliant so Khan can take his Wrath elsewhere.

Quieter night tonight for me. Going to have a nice single malt with the wife just now and just relax for the evening.

Was cleaning the pool in readiness for some new guests arriving. I've been a bit lax lately and there was some algae on the floor and walls. Only way is to jump in with a sweeping brush and scrub it off. Wooooh, it's a bit colder than last time I was in :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Last time for me this year ;) :D

Endless jobs require my attention at the minute. I had planned to get a ride on the bike yesterday, didn't happen,so I was looking forward to today except the council has gritted all the roads around here. All the lovely dry roads now have that grip-free black glar coating,so that's me officially done until they stop doing that.

Lucky there are plenty of other demands on my time.

After yesterday's freezing ride, the homemade heated jacket liner has been repaired.
Sadly the home made thermostat no longer works ( a bfo switch, too hot, turn it off for a bit), but most importantly I'm WARM!

Bright sunny day, so I treated the bike to a wash and brush up, followed by an hour's ride to make sure it was dry. Bit chilly though.

Good opportunity for a new toy?

Mate bought something like this:

Just lower it into the pool and leave it.

Today I have mostly fucked up the kitchen floor. :( I took the tiles up but it left the adhesive behind. I've tried taking that up but its breaking up a think level of stuff below it as well. I suspect that a self leveling stuff? Anyway, they are supposed to be fitting a kitchen next week but I can't see them doing it over the mess I've made. :?
