As least it was only a Tesla and not a proper car.

My car has more parking aids/technology than any other car I've had, I've already hit stationary objects three times and annoying scuffed the front bumper, nowhere near as bad as that tho'

My App says I'm getting 10% less efficiency in Oct/Nov than I was in Aug/Sept.

The heater must gobble it up pretty fast, without pre-heating the car is blowing nice warm air within 50m of setting off, but I loose 2% SoC within the first mile!

Oh does it beep. Beeps , bleeps and flashes lights on the dash etc. As my wif esays, it sounds like youre driving a hospital bed. As it bleeps so much I ignored it. Its like the car that cries wolf, except this time there was a wolf, err, wall!

Hardly a surprise, they're in constant communication with the mothership, if that link dies they're just a dumb vehicle with, by the sound of it, a single internal instruction to shut down. Which would be the obvious safety fallback.

Californian tech companies all have an unconscious flaw which is a reliance on constant internet access, none of them seem to acknowledge the possibility of shitty internet connections.

Been considering an EV for a while as I only do about 3000 miles per annum.

Been a threat at work of a salary sacrifice scheme that only cover Tesla but in case that doesnt happen, started looking at used ones - the prices seem to have dropped massively!

Got a food few friends that have Tesla's ( 2x model 3 performance and another with a model X) - not sure i really need a performance and would rather the long range model, guess majority go for the boggo model?
Other option i have is a Taycan S - neighbours car that he's had since new and think he'll be looking at changing soon, reckon a good deal could be done as he got it to offset his corporation tax so owes him nothing now. It's a lovely car but surprisingly big - parking at the railway station could be a challenge!

I'd love a Taycan.

However they do seem to be prone to battery issues (which are covered by the 10 year battery warranty, but seem to take Porsche ages to fix).

No two ever have the same spec as everything is optional and no two buyers ever spec the same stuff. Make sure it's got the bigger battery.

As you mention, they're massive.

Bargains to be had if you don't want a brand new car.

If you do want a brand new EV, better to lease it.

Saw my nephew in his s/h (barely) and pretty impressive e-Tron yesterday. Got a 10 year battery warranty and insurance cover on all the electronics thrown in and, compared to the new price, it was buttons.

Most EV's use a 'skateboard' style battery.

I know the Taycan and the i4 battery can be dropped out the bottom of the car very easily just a few bolts and the coolant pipes, you can already buy aftermarket batteries for early Renault Zoe and the Nissan Leaf that are better than the originals.

I have no doubt that when my battery warranty runs out that I'll be able to replace it with an aftermarket one for a couple of grand and it'll probably be better than what is available today.

The nephew got 10 years on a 2 year old car. (The usual trick with these things is they don't expect anyone to keep a car that long and they make the warranty non-transferrable )
