Latest update on matey's bike.
In the dealers for the same oil leak and he gets a call today from the service manager. "Bad news, your bike has fall off the lift".
They've given him a couple of options.
Order the parts in and fix the bike, replace it with a demo bike exactly the same model and colour with 600 miles,or we can get you a new one in December.
Given the clusterfuck his ownership of this bike has been, personally I'd be glad they dropped it off the lift, rather than wondering what's going to go wrong next.
They really are the most incompetent shower of shite on the entire island.
Like @weeksy said, a nice R1 as a gesture of goodwill. Someone needs to go to BMW HQ and give them a good shake.
I’ll have to wait, can’t afford anything just now. When the time comes I’ll maybe just get a track bike and concentrate on track days and maybe get back racing but for the time being it’s bikeless Wull.
In fact the only person with a bike will be the wee man, Ducati wanker at that
Without wanting to derail the thread somewhat, I have a dodgy Charlie Hursts story....
Back when I bought my first bike, a lovey little Yamaha Aerox 50, it went it for it's first service. Think it was a plug, filter, and something else. Anyway, picked it up and the next day on my way to college it kept cutting out. Ended up stuck in the rain with a broken bike. Didn't have a mobile phone back then so had to go to a pay phone and the only thing I could think of was to ring them as tell them what has happened. Anyway, I managed to get the bike down to them (don't remember how) and left it for them to sort. The next day I go to collect and the mechanic comes out holding a spark plug.
'You must have fitted the wrong spark plug'
'Eh, it was with you for a service two days ago, that would be you who did that not me'
'That's not one of our spark plugs. We'll have to charge you to fit the correct one'
Being wet behind the ears and only 18, I think I ended up paying.
I guess over 20 years later they still haven't got any better.
Well that’s her ready for trading in tomorrow. It’s a sad day but needs must. I’ve taken off all the add ons except for the tank pad and grips and the radiator and oil cooler guards.
I was planning on leaving the Evotech tail tidy fitted but I had to remove the majority of stuff that’s required to remove it for removing the 2D data logger and gps lap trigger, so she’s pretty much like the day I got her.

Good for you, glad you enjoyed it. I wish you happy memories.
That's a bit of a sickener, that bike's a beaut. On the plus side - in a way - it'll soon be autumn and a car will be the preferred mode of transport most of the time in the frozen north. The dash cam footage won't be quite the same though.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition.
But certainty is an absurd one.

I’ll be driving like Miss Daisy getting as many MPG as possible.
If the wife was staying put work wise then the bike would be staying but that’s not the case, I’d lose my mind commuting on the bike constantly worrying about keeping it minted, and being cold and miserable. My street is a nightmare to get out of when it’s frozen as the council don’t grit it, so there is no other option than another car.
I’ll be phoning Motorrad shortly with regards to this “next free service” I was meant to receive after their mess up with the last service. I’ll be wanting something transferred over as they are the same company, Douglas Park.

Does that mean you're getting a BMW car?
Yeah traded it in, easiest option for me and after seeing one I liked i phoned up on the Thursday morning last week and had it sorted by the afternoon.
I was offered my next service free of charge on the bike because of their mess up during the service there a few months back and I’m trying to sort something out and they’re being stubborn, I’m wanting something that’s for sure.
First offer just sent which is a refund of the brake fluid change which was £81.19 total. So we’ve went from “next service free” to £81. This was sent via email so I’ve sent one back stating this is not good enough.
I’m a little concerned that they are being so blasé about such a critical part.
