Returning an unneeded item to Decathlon, expecting to have to pay for the return and finding that they will pay for the return AND refund the original shipping fee.

Anker Customer Service.
OK so their 40 quid headphones went tits up, but a couple of emails back n forth and I have a new set on the way to me
Although it's a bit of a bummer that they don't accept the knackered ones back to recycle / refurbish, no wonder the planet is going down the crapper

Finding not 1 pressure washer at the tip, but 5 of them. And two stainless steel catering sinks and an oil filled heater.

Sometimes, you do have to time it though.
And even better than that, they're looking for the water main that my house is supplied so as to upgrade it, and I think they've found it. Being as I can't have a dish of tea I shall have to make do with gin.

Quite a lot of wildlife at the place I'm now working at so it's quite often I see Deer, Red Squirrels, partridges, and Hares but the ones I like most absolutely without a doubt is Stoats.
They just seem to be having fun all the time. Constructed from pure mischief.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
We had a good team when we started racing in 1982 and we all improved quickly. In 1982 and 83 we did the Marlborough club championships. In 83 we upgraded to the ACU National Production Racing Championships. My mate Dave was doing much better than me and at the penultimate round, his bike blew up and I crashed breaking my collar bone. So being great mates, I lent him my bike for the last round.
We all went to Brands to watch and he was flat out flying round Clearways and we all cheered. Then he went a bit faster and booom. Big booom.
Anyway, he just called me to say he'd crashed there again and thought of me

So I put this today on the FB racing group..Yorick wrote: Sun Apr 18, 2021 12:12 am We had a good team when we started racing in 1982 and we all improved quickly. I said a little prayer today..
Dave Crampton has always one of my dearest pals. We shared transport for our first few years and it was a privilege to ride with him. If I was good he would let me wash his bike. He was one of the good guys.
When I heard he was racing today, I was a little concerned so wanted to do my little bit to help him.
I live in the beautiful island of Lanzarote, and we have a beautiful small chapel in the hills overlooking Famara. So I went there and said a little prayer to keep David safe.
This is what I said…
“Aye up God (He’s from Yorkshire) , me old pal Cramps needs your help. The dozy old twonk is still racing nasty, dirty motorcycles. Not eco friendly, but he does say his prayers every night.
Anyway, he’s racing his bikes today down in the heathen lands of the dark, deep south. Devil’s country. But Brands Hatch is a great circuit and the locals are not too threatening.
Dave is old, ugly, bald, grey and fat and does have incontinence problems, but please don’t let that put you off.
I’m sending photos of Bandits and minitwins to help you.
Dear Lord, I pray that you will give blow Big Dave a following wind on the straight.
And give his tyres extra grip on the corners.
His brakes struggle as he is bit of a salad dodger, but I pray you put invisible arm on his shoulder and slow him down.
Keep him safe O’ lord and push him to the front of the field
You will spot home easily. He has a huge fat arse.
If he does well, it will bring a little light to his old wizzened face. He might not know what day it is, but we all like it when he smiles
And if he does win any prize money, can you transfer it to my bank account to pay for when he crashed my bike in1983?

First two shifts at the local pub completed, decent place to work, nice colleagues and nice customers. Yesterday afternoon was particularly good as a few locals turned up (unannounced, unbooked and unpaid) and played some live music for the 'punters' to enjoy while supping their beer in the sunshine !

Our lovely neighbours just brought round some bananas fresh off their tree. Mrs Y just made a scrummy smoothie out of them.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
PCR test on Thursday, jump on a ferry Saturday then I'm returning to Biarritz for my 3rd summer there.
I don't know how though, "the remain campaign" have been telling me for years that "you're fucked, you won't be able to work in Europe after Brexit" ....... maybe, they were scaremongering
For anyone that's interested, I've been sanctioned to go because I applied under the WARP scheme, it took less than 15 minutes to fill out the form, and cost a grand total of zero pounds and zero pence!

But some people are fcked due to Brexit!! Someone that wanted to work for me can't because Switzerland require an EU passport to do transfers to and from Geneva
Others have a season longer than 3 months and didn't have the required stuff to apply for a Carte de Sejour under the WARP thingy, so can't stay longer than 90 days
Bloody glad it's worked for you - but I do have too many friends that, at the moment, can only work 3 months of a 5 month season

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
You don't actually need hardly anything to apply, you're asked to submit things like contracts and payslips, but no-one is checking your application right away. As long as you/they apply for the WARP before July (IIRC) then you/they will be fine until October. It's quite clearly a stalling tactic by the French until they come up with a clear agreement.Noggin wrote: Mon Apr 19, 2021 6:32 pmAwesomely brilliant news!!Jody wrote: Mon Apr 19, 2021 5:32 pm![]()

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Finding the gear puller I bought years ago because it was in the clearance bin at Eurocarparts is perfect for pushing out the swigarm pivot bolt on the tenere.
Which is nice because I don’t like swinging big hammers anywhere near engine cases, the pivot bolt had lashings of copperslip applied not that long ago when I replaced the linkage bearings but was well and truly stuck.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Spain is giving almost 2 billion Euros to our little islands to help recovery
Thanks to LANCELOT DIGITAL
Maroto says that the Government of Spain has not "forgotten" the Canary Islands
The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of the Government, Reyes Maroto, said this Monday in the Jameos del Agua, where he presented the Modernization and Competitiveness Plan of the tourism sector in Spain, endowed with almost 3,500 million euros, of which almost 1,850 They are for the Canary Islands, that the Government of Spain has remembered the islands because it knows of its dependence on Tourism. "We keep it very much in mind to protect tourism companies and their workers and also to reactivate the economy, resume travel and mobility and we take another step, in line with European funds, which is to bet on the modernization of our tourism model , also very necessary in our islands, and even more being today in Lanzarote which is an example of a sustainable model ”.
A plan through which aid will be given to modernize the tourism sector. "One of the great pillars of the Modernization and Sustainability Plan for the Tourism sector, a plan that is one of the twenty most relevant investment lines of the Spain May Plan with 3,400 million, and as I said, today we have presented the flagship, the great plan to modernize destinations, the Destination Sustainable Tourism Strategy ”.
Destinations will be classified in this modernization plan. "We make a classification of the destinations to be able to intervene in them, in the field of sun and beach, rural and urban and adapting them to four transforming axes such as the green transition, the digital transition, energy efficiency and the competitiveness axis".
Minister Maroto pointed out that they are going in search of a more sustainable tourism. "The idea is to look for tourism that attracts a higher-spending tourist and we are going to begin to measure the competitiveness of our tourism model based on quality and stop measuring tourists as we have done so far," Maroto pointed out. "It is no longer about the more the merrier, but rather that there is more tourism spending because that will allow us to have more sustainable tourism.
For his part, the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, who accompanied the minister, showed his optimism regarding the economic recovery of the Canary Islands with the arrival of these aid and vaccination. "We must recognize that this plan that has been presented today and we are talking about close to 2,000 million euros, comes to modify tourism in our country and make it more sustainable, more respectful of the environment and more resilient for the future. . Every day we are a little better than the previous one, and the last months of this year should be the springboard for economic recovery ”.
The Canarian president believes that the pandemic in the Canary Islands is quite controlled and that the data indicates that we will go down from now on.
