Which means that the car is doing approx 59kms to a gallon ??? Sounds a bit better than 36 mpg
And that includes going up and down the mountain every day which definitely challenges the consumption - I doubt that the gentle drive down (depending on how much of a hurry I'm in) will ever make up for the stick it gets going up cos I'm rarely thinking about fuel consumption when going home

You can't do that with the EML anymore, the tester is supposed to check that it illuminates for a second before going out.

Thankfully i have never had a major EML issue. The odd occasion it did come on i have an OBD link cable for my phone and FORscan software installed. The ABS was an optional extra as my bus is an 03. Think compulsory in 05 so the examiner probably never gave it another thought. Same guy that failed it with an ABS light two years ago as well. On bikes the ABS light doesn't go out until the ECU has a reading from both sensors, which means travelling a short distance, which doesn't happen during a MOT.
