Forget dogs - my small child had a minor meltdown at the Fireworks this year

I took her to the same council run display last year. She was super excited about it this year, bouncing on the spot waiting for it to start. As soon as the first big bang went off she was in floods of tears trying her hardest to climb down off my shoulders. I had to leave and walk home with her, she leapt out of her skin every time one went off and kept checking back over her shoulder as we walked home.

Turns out she couldn't' work out how the knew when to go off and was scared they'd come back down. Children ain't half daft sometimes

I went to get my MT09 out today with a view to riding it. Not a chance. It's painful to even get my leg on the footpeg and then its very painful to pivot my foot to change gear etc. Oh well, yet more time off work whilst I work even harder at my recovery. FFS!

5-10 minutes every hour has really got my leg freed up. Might even be able to get out on my leccy assist pedal bike tomorrow!!

Awesome. I can't wait for there to be enough snow (and pisted) for me to start walking up the mountains again soon. Hoping my work hours will enable me to do some most days before work. Gotta be fit for the surgery to get the metal out and then be able to ride motos again next year with less grumpiness from the knee

In these austere times, we must look to make savings and efficiencies wherever we can. Upgrading to A-rated appliances is a great way to do this and one of the few purchases that successfully and undeniably contribute to their own purchase price.

One isn't a BF sale, the other quite clearly states stock clearance. But yes I do get the point that not ALL are faux deals, however most of the electrical/clothing/furniture are,
I used to go around Laaaahhhndun flogging leathers and wax cottons (& shell suits), once a year we'd have a sale where everything was being 'sold' at a silly price, so we could then offer them later on in the year as 70% off etc.
Bullshit marketing to part you from your cash.

When you buy something, specifically for a job, and it doesn't bloody fit.
English angle grinder has a 16mm spindle, forrin' ones use a 14mm. Spent an hour with the dremel sorting it out.

Bastard f**k**g machines

I've got a Janome overlocker. Loads of sewing to do and most needs (well I'd prefer to use) the overlocker.

If I could lift and throw it, it'd be out the window by now. I've given up. I have no idea what is wrong with the bastarding thing and I have zero patience now

I'll have to take it to the shop in January for a service and hopefully it'll work then.

Annoyingly, I left the cable for the 'normal' sewing machine at home, so can't use that instead

And that's just how bad things got!! LOL I've threaded and rethreaded this bastard machine, changed the tensions etc and finally, I've given up.

Bins! Bins! BINS!

All the wheelie bins get left at the end of the street for collection. Black bin is anything goes. Yellow bin is recycling. Le council have messed around with pickup schedules and what you can / can't recycle obviously but there's a leaflet, it's not effing rocket science.

But apparently it is, because folk are shoving stuff in the recycling bins that clearly isn't on the list for recycling (tea bags and magazines for example) so the binmen reject the entire bin. Then the owner of the bin just decides this isn't their fecking problem and just leaves their full bin at the roadside to fester until the next collection, two weeks hence. And in the meantime continues their terrible recycling plan by filling up yellow bags (allowed) with the wrong type of recycling and the pile just gets higher.

And Ive turned into a fecking old man curtain twitcher trying to work out who the culprit is. Why do I care?! It's not even outside my house or even near enough to whiff it.

My next house is going to be on its own in the middle of nowhere where I don't, literally, have to deal with other people's shit, and where I can die alone and eaten by cats.

My gripe is with our binmen, sorry Bin persons. We have orange boxes for glass and when emptied he turns the box upside down. So any broken glass left in there dnds up on my lawn. I asked him politely not to do this as my dogs walk on the lawns. He still does it. I reminded him again but he still does it. Last week I was there and went out as he did it again and reminded him in a less polite way. This week he left it in the road almost upside down!

I had something similar at the council once, when I went to complain about bins not being emptied. The lady at the desk had a massive fit about "binmen being allowed time off!" (apparently the bin schedule had been shifted a week for some homeowners, because of bank holidays) when all I really wanted to know was how long the bin was likely to fester. And also apparently, it's my job to appraise myself of changing schedules when theyve failed to let me know in advance.

So basically it was all my fault, maybe I was the 100th whinger that morning. But it's good to know that minimum wage people are allowed massive leeway at being shit at their jobs.

And it seems I'm definitely really obsessed with bins! I might indulge in some cathartic fly tipping.
