Modern Jap bike have us spoiled. My Zed is the same and I fully expect it to start first press of the button even when it's been neglected. A friend has an old H2 triple and if he doesn't start it every week,it'll tell him to fuck right off for a long time.
He has to start it every week?
My ancient XT600 rebuild is on hold mainly because I CBA playing kick start roulette. It can start first or second kick, you'd be quicker walking home if it's being 'awkward

Woke up this morning and really wasn't feeling it, but decided to drag my arse out and worst case I could come home after a short ride. So glad I did, once I was out I had an absolute blast.

No pictures, sorry. I tend not to stop for them and when I do stop, it's not usually somewhere scenic - just co-ops and toilet blocks.
Rode to SW Wales yesterday. Anticipating traffic, I planned a route that took lanes rather than A roads and motorways so quite a lot of gravel but hardly any other cars. I joined the M48 at the Severn View Services roundabout to cross on the old bridge and then back onto back roads. Perfect weather for riding. Not cold, not hot, dry roads and high sun.
The Airbnb is as described. Very quiet, about one passing car every three or four hours. It has donkeys and a song thrush which must live right next to the bedroom as it's so loud.
I bought myself some Ethiopia Kebena coffee from The Small Batch coffee roasters for the trip and have been looking forward to it - not disappointed with that either - living the dream.
I'll be off out soon - thought I'd take the road that goes round the back of Cadir Idris to see Bird Rock - might even stop for a photo. I last checked it out a couple of years ago and the valley was flooded so maybe this time.

Great to be back to the early morning starts.
Being out before much of the world is active is another aspect of the warmer weather I love.
Todayβs journey took me out to Staffordshire way for a coffee and cake at a great cafe on Tatenhill Airport.

Whilst there got a good shot of the Scrambler next to a Blackburn Bucaneer.

Then into Leicestershire for a quick stop and cold drink at the Triumph Factory visitor centre, before heading south back into Warwickshire, and seeing as Cold War jets were on the agenda stopped for a quick shot alongside the Nimrod at Coventry Airport.

Not sure how much longer this old girl will be there, the airport is schedule to close next month and the land redeveloped.

Pushbiking this morning & took my SV650S out for a spin in the evening sunshine
I don't know why,but I'm really attatched to this bike,it's great fun on the back roads around here. Not to powerful, fairly light, all day comfortable with the handlebar conversion,it just suits my riding these days.I was supposed to sell it to one of my mates this week & was having sellers remorse.I had a new rear tyre fitted to it on Friday.Whilst I was telling my old mate who owns the tyre firm about my dilema the phone rang & it was my mate who was going to buy the SV apologising & asking me if we could forget about the sale as back in the day he owned a 1990's Honda 400/4 & he'd found one again.I told him not to worry & buy the Honda. Some things are meant to be

" Suits my riding these days," a line relevant to many I'd imagine. We've all got older and the fun factor of 2 wheels is sometimes found in a different place than it used to be. Increases in traffic, road condition, poor driving standards all take there toll.
I've found 2 wheel enjoyment at a slower pace to be my new fave on today's british roads. Yes, I like a GS trip, yes I like a MT trackday, but for a day out on a motorbike, my happy place is sat on the monkey at a friendly pace enjoying the british countryside.

Another fabulous ride this morning, had no clue where I wanted to go so followed my nose and ended up on some old favs. Left home and went through Wareside for the first time in ages, used to go that way a lot after being introduced to it by Veggie Dave on one of the SM rides back in Victorian times. Through to Much Hadam, then the back road to Bishops Stortford and on to Thaxted, Radwinter, Haverhill and Cafe 33. Was perfect conditions, the first part wasn't good roads in terms of surface, but lovely scenery, cool under the trees and that British summertime feel. The bike as always was great, handles nicely, plenty of shove and happy bend swinging or hooning. More of the former today as was just nice being out and having fun.
Ride back from Cafe 33 was much hotter and stuck behind some cars in places so a little warm but once back up to speed all good. If only its like this for our Wales trip. Yeah I know, no chance
This parked next to me at Cafe 33, a CFMoto 700, think its an ER6 engine copy by the looks of it, looked a compact fun thing though. Next to the GSXS it looked really small.

Ironically I was going to sell the SV & buy a Monkey bike. Now that I've decided to keep the bike I'll get my act together & put my old XT600 back on the road for a few months, sell it & buy a monkey bike.
I like going for the occasional 'Enthusiastic' blast on my Street Triple, but I prefer riding my 650 V-Twins.The Monkey bike riders I met on the Isle of Man last month seemed to be having lots of fun,I intend to join them next year
