What we have is a form of PR, just further down the scale than some would like. The extreme other end is where every law change is subject to a referendum, so different parties will just pick the version they think will benefit them most.

I fail to see anything proportional in our FPTP system. Reform polled 14.3% of the overall vote and were rewarded with precisely 4 seats out of 650. Labour polled 33.7% of the vote and were rewarded with 411 seats.

Of course Farage wants PR, right up until the point that it doesn't work in his favour anyway. And the whole thing probably puts us on the road to devolution, the breakup of the UK. Would the sensible and sensitive types of liberal London really be comfortable with the freeloading racists of Clacton holding the balance of power? I jest of course but you get the idea.

The reality is that you most likely end up with government by coalition, and Parties with very disparate ideas making pacts over certain issues. I'm not convinced that this is a practical solution.
