IIRC I think £500 would get you a small (12"x12") and very personal painting by him or someone like him.
I could look on eBay, err, I mean speak to my bespoke consultant see if the artist has something more to Tiepin's taste. Dog's playing cards, maybe...

Pricier mind. Probably the whole £500 he's got burning a hole in his pocket. ;)

Edit: I have a sort of driftwood sculpture of a male torso that's hanging on the wall in the hallway, about a meter high. I saw it in a poncy shop in Brighton, tucked at the back of a display of other pretentious objet d'arte. I asked to take a closer look and as the fella took it out I saw it was anatomically correct, as it was sporting a cock and balls. I expressed my surprise, to which he replied, 'We're in Brighton. They're quite popular around here'.

It's affectionately know in Chez Gremlin as 'Cock and balls on the wall'.

:D

One picture we have is a silkscreen print. Artist, the late Richard Wardle.

He hated 'art prints', "Bloody photocopies!"

'Early morning linseed'. If you've ever done silkscreen printing, you'll appreciate this is something very special.

Man 'n' boy. 'Ardest game in the book. Had to give it up coz of me emphysema. ;)

Nice picture.

We have a couple of Dave White pieces.

Now they are prints, as his originals are very trumpy. That said, they're nice and dramatic and we like 'em, and that's all that matters.

If I ever did meet him though, I'd tell him not to paint outside when it was raining. ;)

I love art me. I've got a picture of a donkey I got from The Range for £10. It's ace.

We don't have much art, just crappy sayings turned into tin and wood mounted tropes!

Or any charity of your choice. Just ask them what they really need, right now.

It doesn't have to be expensive, I bought a lovely candelabra in a charity shop for £3, it's one of my favourite things in the house at the moment.
The candles cost multiples of what the candelabra cost
I've got this image now of you at home admiring your latest portrait acquisition...

I've always said if ever we get proper money then I'd want my own room where it's done up proper old fashioned, wood panelling, old desk, etc.
Like something out of Downton Abby, where I can shut the door and pretend I'm in another century.
That, but with a secret door that opens when you pull a specific book on the bookcase.

Potter wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2024 3:19 pm We do actually have a secret room here, you'd never find it, it's about three metres square and when I show people they're like "How the effing hell is that there?" because it doesn't look possible, but the way the house has been extended over the years means that it's there.
When you look at the plans you're like "Ahhhh" but if you didn't know about it you'd never go looking for it.
It's behind a door that isn't a door.

It blew us away when we viewed the house and it's defo my favourite part of the house to show people :)
Is that where the hat stays? :silent:

Potter wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2024 3:35 pm The entrance is totally dull and very underwhelming if you're expecting a proper movie style secret room.
But perhaps that's why it's so good, it doesn't look anything like an entrance to a secret room

I'll do Tiepin a special one-time deal, a night in my secret room, canapés and sparkling wine, I get to wear the hat.
Only £500, cos he's a mate like....
