Re: You've got 15k ...
I'd buy 4 Enfield Himalayan's & go on a group ride with 3 of my mates, maybe another trip to Wales or Scotland all on the same slow bikes.I think a few tours like that on the B roads would be fun.
If I was just having one bike I'd do the same as Potter suggested up there,I'd take the XSR900GP if someone else has given me 15K to spend, but there's no way I'd be parting with my money for one.

He'd need his £15k, and your £15k on top, and still need to have a good look down the back of the sofa and raid the piggy bank too to even come close to the asking price...Potter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 5:03 amHave a look at the new RS, it's potentially all things to all men.asmethurst99 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 9:06 pm Ducati multistrada - with as many electric bits as can be included because why not

I'd spend the lot on petrol and ferry fares!

Re: You've got 15k ...
Not replied in this thread yet as I've been thinking what I'd buy. And if I'm honest I really think I'd keep the GSXS and spend £15k on riding it or the difference if I needed to factor in what I paid for it but that'd still leave me with £7k which is a lot of petrol, rooms and beer.

This just popped up on Friendface Marketplace... it's £15,750, but I'm I could negotiate a bit off.

I remember when a few of them turned up and were raced by some mates in the GP250 class in Bemsee .... the smell around the circuit was superb and great to watch zinging roundKungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 5:23 pm This just popped up on Friendface Marketplace... it's £15,750, but I'm I could negotiate a bit off.

Re: You've got 15k ...
My mate has one, last year we took it to Aintree test day for a run
You'll need more than 15K to get him to part with it,these days they run them in the Classic TT so the value's gone up.

Re: You've got 15k ...
The team I had raced TZ250's from the reverse cylinder "A" (just lovely exhaust and induction sounds) before going onto the V twin "D" and "F" models.
Raced against Ian Newton a few times, the Aprillia was just so quick, and the only time we beat him was when his bike broke down.
Two stroke race V-Twins are great to ride, my Aprilia RS250 came close.
£15,000 would be plenty to buy me a mint RS, but would it get me a mint TZ with decent race provenance?

Re: You've got 15k ...
Steve Patrickson was 250cc champ that year, so the bike has no proper covenance.

Comes with a load of wheel balance weights, they might come in handy elsewhere.Potter wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 3:33 pm I've seen bikes with names attached to them going for really strong money.
There is an ex-Carl Fogarty RS250 going for £40k here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204201958899 ... R4SJ0oihYw
It's probably a decent bike, but I personally wouldn't pay a premium for a bike just because someone famous had ridden it.
I'd pay good money if it was something special, e.g. factory tuned or something, but all other things being equal then I wouldn't pay extra money just for the name association. I get why some people do, but it's not for me.

The guys selling that are just round the corner from me - easy walking distance. You can pretty much guarantee that anything they list is 15-20% over-priced.Potter wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 3:33 pm I've seen bikes with names attached to them going for really strong money.
