I said they were popular. I said I can understand why they are popular...

There's not many "bad" bikes on the market these days, lets face it.

I read lots of Adventure Bike hatred on this forum in particular, and it's always from people who have dismissed them as a genre without even having ridden one... I am not a particular fan of the GS myself, but that has everything to do with the dull boxer twin engine and the telelever suspension lacking in feel for me subjectively, not to do with its capability as a bike. I much prefer my KTM 1290 Super Adventure as it's more engaging, has a lot more character, much more feel from the front end but again I understand why people might prefer the GS to my KTM...

Either way, pretending that they don't exist because they don't float your boat seems bonkers! :wtf:

Anyway... Back on track...

Ducati have just introduced this for 2024...

The Desert X Rally... All £19k of it!!! :eh:

I've had a go on my mates normal version (£14.5k) and it was brilliant. At £14.5k they ain't cheap, but another £4.5k for 20mm more suspension (and naff all else) seems bonkers to me, but hey! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Where have I pretended they don't exist?
As I said, I don't care about them, what other people ride is their choice, it doesn't effect me, I don't see why you think I should care whether a KTM or a BMW is better.

It's always been that way. Bikers are a tribal, negative lot :D . If something is expensive, cheap, popular, different, not what they ride (most common) then they love to remind everyone that they don't like them.

So, BMW, Adventure bikes, Harleys, Honda, 'tall' bikes, Black Widow exhausts, Rukka (insert other brand name here) kit, anything not Italian/Austrian/doing well in competition, old, new, faired, 1 or 2 or 3 cylinders, 2-stroke....ad infinitum. Someone will delight in telling the world, at every opportunity, why they don't like them.

Haven't both had a specific thread within the last week or two?

I've ridden the GS and KTM adv barnacles and didn't like them,so that's conclusive.

I know I don't like them and aside from being forced to look at them because of all their blinding fairy lights,I'm trying really hard to pretend they don't exist. 8-)

To paraphrase my learned fiend, I haven't ridden either, have no desire to and I know I don't like them.

And to paraphrase Viv Stanshall, I don't know what I want but I know it's not one of them...

Nothing exciting for '24? Pah - the Suzuki T-Strom is now available with cast wheels so it can sneak under the £10k barrier!

A couple of my mate's have GS's & recieve a lot of piss taking as a result. The bikes suit them, but one of them is that bloke who can tell you all the specs, loves gadgets & bought his first GS for a trip to Scotland that we did last year,he thought his 650 Interceptor would cripple him riding 250 miles to Perth :wtf: ..
The other GS owner is 6'8 & knows very little about bikes, but not much else fits him,so fair enough.
On a positive note neither of them smell of piss, yet.
I've just remembered, someone I worked with who was that bloke you'd avoid in the car park as he was one of those boring farts talking bollox about their cars also got into biking the other year,he's got some GS black edition thing. No doubt that's full of gadgets too..

I've a few ADV style bikes. I find them armchair comfortable and that makes them a very usable and rideable bike for me. Superbikes are the complete opposite for me. Wrists down arse up is just gay signaling and lets not kid ourselves its anything else! :obscene-birdiedoublered:

As I've aged, I've broadend my mind towards bike types. I quite like all of them, even cruisers have a purpose. I'm definitely happy buying a certain type of bike these days, whereas a few years back, I'd be taking the piss out of it.

I still reckon I could give a home to a rebel 1100 dct, not happening any time soon mind. 😯

At least they aren't wearing Klim. :D (I'd never heard of Klim before but the Enduro jacket looks  and their boots look OK too).
