If you can avoid it, do so! ;)

Sadly, I'm resigned that's not going to happen.

Literally, it would be my neck on the line if anything went wrong. In the 2001 crash I landed on the back of my head where the skull and spine were removed, and I don't want to dwell for too long on the consequences of bending the rods or popping the screws ...

Oops!!

But you got home and can tell them now!! LOL

I spect I've posted this before, but my old riding buddy was told by his cardiac surgeon that he could drive. So he took that to mean he had his licence back and started using his ZX9r as well!! (I think that was when we first started riding together!)

All was well, he was much happier back on the bike, right up until he next saw the cardiac surgeon and mentioned he was enjoying riding and she went mad at him!!

Apparently "you can drive" did NOT mean "you can drive and/or ride a bike"!!! LOL

Shame about the biking for you, but kinda makes sense with metal so close to the important bit!!! xx
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:

I knew it was a nasty crash, but that sounds really bad!

Compared to some, I got away lightly. A few WTF moments 'starfish' on the road, then got up and walked away.

The back of the skull location is just coincidence, the Chiari is congenital, not a consequence of the crash.

Yebbut - losing your spine AND skull....?

Really pleased to hear you're making progress, btw - I posted this earlier, but it disappeared. Back to driving must feel like being let out of prison.

Luckily, not all of it ;)

Skull has a 1" x 1" ish 'arch' removed at the base, to make the foramen magnum (big hole the spinal cord comes out of) bigger, along with removing the back 1/4 of C1 vertebra.

Anyone squeamish, look away now :)

It was a massive concern for me, yes.

Letter & form in the post to DVLA today. Let's see what fun that brings.

I sortof want to know, but ...

Learned that lesson years ago. If you want to be put off your lunch, Google images for "excision of hydrocele". Pre-internet, I looked it up in a medical surgeon 'how to' book. Walked bow legged out of the bookshop just a the thought of it :(
