I've changed my mind.

I'd buy a tow bar for the car, a light bike trailer and a Trials bike. Join the local club and see how badly I spank myself up Junior Kickstart stylee.

Or buy half of this...

I didn't know Beta were still making the Alp, they've been making them for over 20 years, they had a good reputation, do they still have a Suzuki engine?

I still really want one of these, but if what I've heard about the performance is correct I doubt I'd have my licence after one or two Sunday blasts.

Do it.

You don't have to ride it like a loon. (But you will).

I think it's ideal for a Sunday morning ride. Not as quick as the 990 but more than quick enough for the local cart tracks. I took a new one out for a morning a few years ago and I enjoyed it, but I was a bit worried about reliability. Not so much of a problem on a Sunday bike.

That one is also almost devoid of orange :)

I have crap taste when it comes to bikes.
But this bike has (I believe?) been for sale for probably a couple of years. I firstly spotted it on some swap site and then on the auction site twice or more times. If I did not have a Busa taking space up I would own it.
Turbo Suzuki 1250.

I would then buy this, a GS1000S fairing.

And then some blue and white paints to create a GS1000S style of paint job.

Job pretty much done.

If I had another £5K I would buy a ZZR1100 (which can be picked up from £1000 up), buy paint, some modern forks, wheels and brakes and then pay Dave Dunlop a visit at FastByMe Turbo's. He has started doing turbo kits for ZRX's and ZZR's. 200hp for less than (possibly) £5K.

If I had five grand going spare, I'd mostly buy an Omega Speedmaster Professional.

Incidentally, a year or two back I "won" a GSX1250 from the auction site (same engine as the turbo'd 1250 above) and with it making max torque at about 3500rpm it was an absolute hoot to ride. Much better than a GSX1400 that I tried out one afternoon. So I would also include a factory standard-ish Bandit 1250 or GSX1250. And then stick the remaining £2500 plus into a 5.5% high interest account that a local building society is offering.

A lightly used MSX125 of the latest generation (5 speed box and a proper oil filter rather than a spinner, innit) for under £3k, in the silliest colours available on the day.

Then the change...
If it was that exact one I'd be after deleting the red Chinese tat first.
Then it wants improved fork springs, a Brembo caliper on an adapter at least for the front, improved rear shock (that one has a yellow spring so might already have that), and a big bore kit.

If you take it to France, make sure you check the exhaust box before getting on the Eurotunnel/ferry. Could be a couple of illegal migrants hiding in it. :D
