Givi? Top boxes? Now you've got an adventure bike aren't you required to spend a small mortgage on Kriega packs strapped in various places around the bike?

You kept the CB1000 a lot longer than I kept mine.
The bars on adventure type bikes are too wide for commuting, filtering is horrible. The only thing I ever had that was similar was a KTM 990SM, I could only ride it to work in school holidays when the traffic was lighter. I predict you'll sell it in October, the schools will have been back for a month and you be pissed off with it.

I commuted on my tiger800 xc for many years with very few problems because the bars are higher than the car mirrors, it's the vans that cause the problems 
I've had more problems on my CBF1000 in the last few weeks because even though the bars are much narrower they are at mirror height

My commute route was a bit unusual. I used the A1M from Hatfield, turning off at Apex Corner. Once past the M25 the lanes on the A1M shrink, imagine 3 lanes squeezed onto a 2 lane wide road. Add in traffic that would regularly be stationary from the M25 onwards and guaranteed to be stationary from a mile before Stirling Corner, a wide handlebar is a liability no matter what the height. I think Taipans relationship with motorcycles is much like my own, they're a great tool for getting to work on but at the weekends there are better things to do away from motorcycles.

On my BMW GS I cut an inch of each end of the bars as i swear it had wider bars than any other adv/motard type bike i've owned? Not too worried about the filtering side as i managed fine on my Ducati. As long as i can sit comfortably, that's the main thing!

Yup. I get off them Thursday evening and don't go near them again until Monday morning. Spoke to the dealer today, Its been through the workshops and had a service as the service history indicated it was practically due one. They said it's also due a pre-delivery valet but they won't do that until they know when I'm coming as it's outside and will just get messy again. So I've confirmed collection for Friday at around 10am.

Yes, but as 2 buttons on the left hand switchgear. One for upshifts is reached with your index finger and your thumb hits the other button for downshifts. You can also put it in manual mode and only use the +/- buttons. It all works brilliantly once you get used to it.

Yeah.. and you can use it in auto aswel I think, knock it down one when required.

I've always liked them so like this purchase, and very much approve Mr T, much more desirable and I think probably likely to stay with you than that last Honda thing, although going on your buy-rate recently I'm not banking on it!
This one was on the homeward bound ferry with us on Sunday just gone (female owner but nothing to read into that other than she liked her bikes)- couchy had one too that he sold to one of my mates, and I know they both really loved it too

Happy another new bike day ....watch out for van mirrors when filtering as the bars might hit but the DCT should make it easier in principle
