So then.... the forum 'problems' we're having with posting/arguing/bickering.

What can the Admins do to help, any requests for changes, updates, etc.

By winning I meant you were the most liked (if you don't count Weeksy) I think I was third or four, but then I'm third biggest poster of complete bollocks, behind Yozza.

Even more reason to ignore then. Or put them on ignore?

I get what you mean but if you respond it escalates and spoils any original info/posting for others. I generally scroll past your posts because I'm not in the right headspace to even begin to address the comment/info. Or I could post getting miffed about info overload. I know which I prefer.

If the other person doesn't, you need to - for your sanity as much as anything
Or if the trolls were dealt with you would not have to scroll past and enjoy the threads for what they are.

Go for it then fella, you find me a post I/we should have dealt with and tell me how you'd have played things differently instead.

I deal with EVERY post that breaks the rules as laid out

I can't deal with every post that has someone being "a bit of a prick to someone else"

I don't think you get this, but YOURE ALL grown sodding adults, you're all sitting at home in your own houses with mortgages (or not), jobs, lives, families. I shouldn't need to be the keeper of the peace.

I'm the Admin here, I'm not a schoolteacher.

If anyone on this forum thinks for a single second I have even a modicum of compassion, emotion, sympathy or anything else, then you really don't know me. I'm cold and empty lol. I can't 'be here' for every single member who's having a bit of a tiff with someone else.

The rules are laid out, set out and someone being a wanker isn't in the rules at all. I do step in, but it depends on the circumstances.

Plenty of posts between say Yorick and Taipan could be seen as wankerish, but both take them nicely, so I don't get involved. But say a post as Screwd is taken differently but is a less bitchy post, should I have to step in?
Shouldn't it be down to the people involved to sort out?

I shouldn't be getting PMs saying "he's being horrible to me" "you don't understand how it feels" etc etc. No, I don't understand, because I'm a grown up and if someone is being a prick I tell them. But what I don't do, is call them a prick in a thread, why, because that's against the rules as laid out in the rules "no personal insults"
If I ignore that, then sure, tell me I'm wrong.

Why? I know Weeksy has just replied, but as I posted, ignore and scroll by!! It really isn't difficult and if more people did that, there would probably be more chat in this place.

I sometimes read some threads and wonder of the ages of the posters - and even tho I'm an old fart, I know most are older and have been more grown up in life than me. So how come it turns into school yard behaviour?

and if someone is being a prick I tell them. Again, if they tell them they are being a prick you will lock the thread.

Weeks said i cant call you a prick so please go away might work. As said before, your playing field and your ball.

Not sure whether you meant just across the forum, or everywhere in real life. If the latter, then yes. I've had a few conversations recently with people from different professions who interact with the public, all saying that that respect has evaporated and demands have increased to far beyond reasonable.

So you'd do it differently?

It's really not a question of it being my ball, my field. I didn't build the forum for me. I built it for you lot to play in.

I don't lock threads for 1 post, 1 comment, 1 insult. I lock them when they turn into a shit storm. I generally reopen them a few days/hours later

No need for me to scroll past as i read the shit and sometimes find it entertaining but then i am not getting trolled. I dont blame anyone for telling them to fuck off and all this dont call them nasty names is doing is letting them continue as the one being trolled gets punished also as does the rest of us when a post gets locked. I just think they should be dealt with sooner then we might not be having conversations like this.

At the risk of being banned for presenting facts rather than some of the rhetoric above.

This is why I received a "Board Warning": viewtopic.php?p=239414#p239414

I replied to a PM, I did not instigate a discussion nor did I start a complaint that "someone is being mean to me". Just want to make sure that the example behaviours are not being attributed to me and if they are, that is not true. Let's keep this real.

I note that a certain thread (screwdrivers "pissing and moaning thread") which I pointed out during a long conversation with Weesky as an example of the sort of abuse I constantly receive, has since been deleted. I assume it had not been seen previously because for the life of me, I can't see how that sort of trolling is allowed when the thread I link to above is somehow grounds for punishment.

See telling someone to fuck off I see as ok. Saying "fuck off you twat" is different. Well in my opinion anyway

I am confused.

I thoughf this forum was for adult bikers, not snowflakes. I dont usually insult people, most people dont insult me, but if thwy do I have 3 options.

Ignore them
Insult them back
Piss off somewhere else

What is this about PMing admin? Last time I heard folks doing that was in Primary school and it was only wimps who did it then.

Lol, did I? I kinda remember it now you mention it  , but when you're on forums, particularly internationally, you end up sending "mercy packages" to ex-pats etc. The weirdest UK one, I think, was seeing a durian fruit to Cheb! But, yeah man, I enjoy the banter.

I left the other forum we all used once, for a while, because it just got so damn spiteful, and that just ain't my bag. I'm not an arguing kinda person and its why I normally avoid the news & politics forums, and it's sad to know people are getting proper angsty on here. We're all (internet) mates and need to let each other vent and then move on with no grudges held. Life is short, let's make it a positive experience. As bikers, we're normally pretty damn good at that...

PS If i peg it, you lot gotta come round and sort the loft and shed-of-plenty and sell it all on and tell Mrs Taipan all that stuff was canny investments and has brought her good returns. Never ever tell her what it cost and what I've lost on it right. Guy code ffs!

Sounds like a fine start to a sunny Friday BH weekend. Lets have plenty of bikes, beers, days out and general entertainment :)

We'll forget this thread ever existed, i've said my piece, some others have said theirs.... lets move on and get back to spanners, riding, beers and banter. :)
