I've spent a fair bit of the past 2 days repairing fences due to my escaping pigs.
So I sat down to relax with a bit of CF and.......PTSD!

It's Middle England countryside 'peril'. Clarkson does mad farming stuff and the local council is lit. There's a whole 15 minutes about a planning meeting, where Clarkson goes into battle with various town elders and then they publicly snub him (like a virtual punch in a director's face) - it's high octane stuff and leaves you on the edge of your seat.

The economy is ruined but we can all enjoy millionaires complaining and pretending to farm a bit.

I saw him in person many years ago being ignorantly rude to a hotel receptionist in Edinburgh. I suspect there's not much difference between him on screen and off, he may even be less twuntish on screen.

Still, his success mocks my failure.

I like the series. Have 2 episodes left. Gob smacked by the sheer pettiness of district councils. Would love to see the restaurant become a success and support the local community ( in more ways that busy-body pensioners pretending to stare at the night sky)

Not sure, but I think I read somewhere that the restaurant got poo pood.

I feel he as a well paid rich man from a very privileged background he is still fairly down to earth. They are normally all in it for themselves, Jezza still seems to have a heart and an ability to still think freely!

I also like his anti authoritarianism.

I only know of him what the media provides. Getting sacked for thumping someone who wouldn't - or couldn't - provide him with the food he wanted suggests bullying rather than leadership.

He definitely varies his persona depending on the type of programme that he is presenting. 'Buffoon' for TG Vs 'serious' for others (eg on the creation of Bletchley Park machines).

His great skill is making a story come alive, regardless of the subject matter. He's a raconteur, not a farmer or a car driver.

Finished season 2 last night. Agree completely with the story telling points made.

I guess it is easy and quite lazy to make this about him though: rich, obnoxious oaf can’t build a his new sand pit and fill it with toys.

It’s not really about him though - I’m struck by the impact of the community here. I found myself getting wound up by planning processes and petty people. Petty people will be petty, but when you see the livelihood of dairy and pig farmers at risk - I think Clarkson has shone a very bright light on some stuff that needed highlighting.

Probably a bit knee-jerky, but my wife (who is a vegetarian) suggested we stop buying meet and milk altogether from supermarkets, so last night I’ve signed up with a local milk/produce delivery scheme….and in a minute, I’m off to the local farm ( real lack of butchers near me) and load up on meat.

If Clarkson could start a series on nursing shortage next that would be aces
