Tonight - all day/night studio session with DJ Fuzzy Fuzz! - We used to produce some Disco House and after about a 5 years break we are trying again. I am loads more savvy with beat making and him with the sampling (we sample off old 60's and 70's records) so hopefully we will produce something special this time around. We call ourselves 'The Green Pirates'!...:) Will no doubt get some Caribbean food in.

Sat - Nothing. Gummies and films. My weekly rest day.

Sun - Housework, over to see the parents then back in the studio in the eve...:)
Have you any vids of you doing the funky DJ stuff?

She was 93, and had lived independently up 'til she was taken in, so that's bloody impressive. My mate always said she had a soft spot for me, as many years ago at a wedding I escorted her, in true gentlemanly fashion, arm in arm, to her waiting taxi, opened the door and closed it behind her. Little did she know I was pissed as a fart and was actually leaning on her for support as much as she was me.

I know it sounds odd, but we'll take a bottle of their favourite sparkling wine around, so that we can toast her long, happy life. :obscene-drinking cheers:
Doesn't sound odd at all. Sounds perfect. Have a good toasting of a life long and hopefully well lived xx

I found Red Wine I didn't know I had*, so I've decided I can afford to use an entire bottle for Beef Bourguignon. I imagine we shall be having something apple based for desert.

*appalling behaviour I know
Which reminds me, I got some quinces (at Welbeck farm shop, grown on the estate). Simmer 30 mins, quarter and fry. Served with a lamb tagine. Nom. Nom.

Oh yeah, today is a significant wedding anniversary. They don't give you as many years for murder.
We went to the big community orchard today, nearly 400 apple trees. My mum does loads of preserves and also cooks for the canteen in a blind charity, so she's well up for a free glut of apples. The trees had way fewer and smaller apples than they did last year, the summer weather must have really hit 'em. It was also really windy last weekend, so there were tonnes of smooshed up windfall apples on the floor. Got 'enough for our needs though.

I could not find a single quince tree.

We swung by the much smaller orchard near my house which only has ~15 trees but which I know for a fact has 2 quinces. Someone has been through there and cleaned up, I'm not sure why. No fruit on any of the trees, nothing on the ground and trimmed grass. I found one (one!) quince they missed, it was yellow among the yellow leaves.

Tell ya' what though....adding a single quince to an apple crumble makes it super apply!

Interesting. The RHS were on the radio saying it had been a bumper year for apples, smaller fruit, but a good crop with high sugar content. It was pretty much how our crop at home turned out. Still picking them and, fortunately, they keep quite well for a while. It ends up being a balance between picking 'em or the birds pecking 'em.
