I think my 2020 Suzuki 750 is about the same weight as an original Z650, weirdly it feels similar to ride as one (though it's over 30 years since I rode a Z650 so I might be very wrong on that)G.P wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 5:30 pmHarsh but fair.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 6:54 pmThe original Z650 was a very nice bike to ride, and it looked like a man's bike, the current one is more like a Z440 (I appreciate that's a bit harsh)Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 6:33 pm
Built in a factory fueled by burning puppies and baby seals.
I've ridden the old Z650 and it was indeed a very nice bike to ride, especially vs. the 400 twins of the day. It weighed a lot though.

Re: Shopping Bikes
I reckon if you wanted say a XSR7 or Z650RS for the looks then the new Honda won't sway your decision as they are retros and the Honda isn't. A Z650RS will look all cool at the Bike Shed, the Honda probably won't even get in!
But if you are after bang for your buck then the Honda is going to be hard to ignore. It's cheaper than the Chinese bike and makes 10 bhp more than it's closest rival, 15bhp more than the MT07. If this was back in the 90s when more bhp was the be all end all the rest wouldn't get a look in. It's kind of like a new Bandit really. Cheap performance. And staying on the Bandit theme it's probably the same price or less than a new Bandit adjusted for inflation and makes more power, more mpg and has gadgets.
