Re: Donington WSBK
I think that Rea got his tactics wrong in Race 2. He was all over Toprak like a rash until at least halfway, but all he succeeded in doing was to trip both of them up and allow Bautista to close up. Every time he and Toprak tangled, Bautista would close the (approx 1 second) gap and be right on Rea's rear wheel again. I'm sure it must have taken lumps out of Johnny's tyre life as well.
If Rea had boxed clever and just shadowed Toprak, occasionally showing him a wheel to keep him honest, they would have pulled away from Bautista and Rea might have had enough tyre left to try a move on Toprak in the last couple of laps. Even if he couldn't pass Toprak (and he looked pretty much invincible) at least he'd have had a solid 2nd place for his troubles. As it was Rea left Donington 17 points behind Bautista when it could have been just 9 points.

Re: Donington WSBK
Totally agree, I don’t think Rea had anything for Toprak though especially after Toprak adjusted his TC but what worries me about JR which is the very reason he wiped Toprak out earlier on in the season is he makes these moves for positions that don’t exist and almost makes contact with Toprak each time, it looks almost desperate.
The second race was phenomenal, but did you say the saves JR made towards the end just before Alvaro caught him, I think mistakes are coming.

Yeah, Toprak had it covered and was never in any real danger of being passed. Rea should have realised this and done damage limitation. I was waiting and wincing, expecting Rea to wash out and take Toprak with him. Thankfully that didn't happen. It was interesting that as soon as Toprak got the TC2 signal he pulled clear of Rea.

Re: Donington WSBK
The BMW is clearly the worst bike but Scotty is doing great.
The series will be better if we see 4 way scraps for the wins.

Re: Donington WSBK
Good racing. Redding rode his balls off on that beemer.
Last time out at Donny Sykes nailed a podium,so in all reality the thing doesn't appear to have improved much. I don't know how BMW can make such a dominant road bike and stock racer, yet can't make that step in WSBK. Perhaps they need to look at swallowing their pride and stop with the in house electronics.
Apparently it's a sore point that they have to use a Kalex swinger.

Re: Donington WSBK
Yes, I'd hazard a guess that the reason the BMW's pace drops off in the last half/third of the race is down to the electronics. The tyres get cooked and Scotty has to try and compensate. They're throwing large sums of money at it and it's fairly obvious where the problems lie. If they're in to win, rather than just take part, some hard truths need to be faced up to.

Did you see they changed the graphics for that very reason, they were no longer referring to it as “Kalex swingarm” on the graphics and changed itSkub wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 1:15 pm Good racing. Redding rode his balls off on that beemer.

Depends on the pickle. But yup, I'm in.
I'll bet he doesn't even get a 5th next time out.
