Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
Looking at reviews for those trousers I see at least 2 others have had the same issue with a damp crotch. And given SBS don't allow you amend reviews and given a lot of reviews are done very soon after purchase you wonder if it's more common.
I reckon I might cop some rain on my ride to the South West and I did think of getting some textile trousers but think I'll stick with my Bull-it jeans and cheap old boil in the bag over trousers for now.

Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
Go onto eBay and buy some RAF / Army Goretex ( it's laminate membrane etc but essential Goretex) over trousers. Mine cost 20 quid - and worked well for a torrential down pour in the IOM. Limited choice of colour - RAF blue or Army camo ..Supermofo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 9:29 am Looking at reviews for those trousers I see at least 2 others have had the same issue with a damp crotch. Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
Would've done as they look better but already got a set of these a couple of years ago. Worn once so far (I don't do wet). These type always leak eventually after a few years but at current wear rate hoping they'll be fine for now (crossing fingers)Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 9:57 am https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313952428529 ... Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
I am still using the trousers and they seem ok, so I’ll see.
I am currently using the Scott rain jacket. Seems brilliant so far, no water has got through and it’s wind proof.
Got an email this morning from sports bike shop, replacement jacket will be sent to be, I asked them for either a refund or credit. They agreed to credit. Brilliant, much better experience than the other place.
Only thing is the price of a pair of alpinestars super tech R boots is now £505!!!!!

SportsBikeShop is excellent
You could buy 2-3 pairs of Alpinestars SMX-6 boots for this money.

So far I've always had great service from SBS, they were esp helpful with an issue I had with my TomTom rider.formula400 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:14 am Got an email this morning from sports bike shop, replacement jacket will be sent to be, I asked them for either a refund or credit. Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
sooooo on Christmas Eve the trousers leaked again, fired an email and picture to the visorshop, got a quick reply saying they would investigate in the new year, great start, then on the 3rd said they need to send back to Richa again, I asked how they will proceed as ill be with out winter trousers while they have them, same as last time, they send them back, get them checked out and send then me new ones, I kicked off, as last time they took 6 weeks from me informing them to them sending me the replacements, where sports bike shop i had a credit note within 9 days.
so currently they will allow me to post them back, once they receive them I can choose any other pair from the website and the will send them as they won't give a cash refund. I mainly wanted the refund to buy some right away and never use them again. also I don't want another Richa pair as ive had 2 pairs of trousers and the jacket all fail.
so need to find another pair and maybe pair with over trousers from Scott that match my over jacket.
rant over.

Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
It's pretty tragic when all you want to do is give someone money in return for waterproof bike gear which is..uh..waterproof,only to find a very large percentage isn't,regardless of cost.

Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
I would’t mind but they were £290. Currently I’d be happy to get some RST ones and the Scott over ones. Save some wedges and if they leak I’ll deal with it.
Shame they can’t incorporate shakedry

'Shakedry' ? You mean *-tex bonded laminate? They do tend to be more expensive, but there should be plenty of fully laminated trousers out there.formula400 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 12:48 pmI would’t mind but they were £290. A quick scan of their shop shows they do Halvarrsens - try a pair of them if they do any laminated models?formula400 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 1:18 pm this, its 100% waterproof but its not cheap, I love mine.

I have only ever had a pair of Halvassens Jeans (ie not waterproofs) not I've no experience with the waterproof products, but they have a good reputation.

Bit late, I got my replacement trousers on the 24th Jan. 4 weeks after them receiving them. Again I genuinely things they took the piss with how long they took getting me replacements.

Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
I have Halvarssons gear and it works. I went with the recommendation of the chaps at Motolegends and got the Wien Jacket/Wish trouser combination.
The jacket is a drop liner and the trousers are laminate, both using Halvarssons own version of gortex. Having done around 1000 wet miles of touring in them, they've not let me down.
The jacket, like any drop liner, wets out after a while and makes you feel like you're wet due to the water in the jacket sitting close to your body, but you don't get wet. To stop this I also bought a Scott jacket to go over the top, and if it looks like the day will be wet/is wet, I put that over the top to stop the wet feeling. It also adds an extra layer of warmth which I find is much needed if you're out all day in rain, even in the summer months.
The trousers I just use as intended - a laminate with no need for an outer layer. Again, they've not leaked at all, although the one slight niggle is they have a leather patch on your arse, for grip. That sometimes wets out and can make it feel like you have a wet arse, but you don't. It's variable as to when it happens as it doesn't do this all the time - probably down to my riding style (I do move around the bike a fair bit for cornering.
At the time I bought the kit, Halvarssons didn't have a decent laminate jacket (they had one, but the fit was odd), but they've now got a much better fitted jacket (the Naren), which if I was buying again I'd probably get as it allows better venting in warm conditions.
Summary: Halvarsson's version of gortex works in a laminate/drop liner, but without the premium price tag for having the gortex name.

Re: Should my laminated trousers get wet inside
So fast forward today.
Pissing it down.
Replacement Rev’it laminated trousers have a leak small leak on my balls
Going to get a pair of over trousers and that should deal with the issue. Really can’t be arsed to have to deal with the visor shop again.
