He uses an £80 external Garmin GPS module with it as the ones in phones don't really sample often enough, but with that yup, I agree, it is pretty impressive , and is easy to overlay videoswith all the data too

As mentioned above, despite a damp start turned into a perfect day for us. Really nice to meet up with all the Pembrey crew and great to meet @dern in the flesh.
My son James thoroughly enjoyed himself and seems to ride sensibly, gradually getting quicker throughout the day without doing anything daft.
Everyone from our group I saw on track looked to be riding really well and @2xtwins nikken surely is a sight to behold, very impressive
Didn’t get to see@Tricky who was in inters but see from the video he was flying, is that thing really hitting nearly 170mph, amazing
Manage to get some GoPro footage but being a technology numpty have manage to record it in 5 minute loops and the chances of ever figuring out how to download it are very slim

Well I got some footage of Kev and James. It ain't very good and camera always streams up. Might need small holes drilling into case or summot.

The lean angle of the trike on some of the left handers was scaring me a little- I was watching each lap waiting for it to lock out and him to fall off - although of course I know it didn't and he didn't as I saw him ride off home

It was extraordinary. From being completely ambivalent about them I’m completely impressed and fascinated by them. Is there a lean angle warning sensor?

@2xtwins ain't far from us and we meet up at times over this way, i'm sure he could be talked into you having a sit on it.

I'm heading up to Lancaster at the weekend on the 1190 and am popping in to Premier to pick up a baffle for the 1290 on the way up and they've got a niken in so I'll take a closer look then.

I'm heading up to Lancaster at the weekend on the 1190 and am popping in to Premier to pick up a baffle for the 1290 on the way up and they've got a niken in so I'll take a closer look then.

Just the traditional footpeg hero blobs, which I am leaving on there and will replace as and when necessary

According to the instructor the best, and most fun, way to ride one is to turn the traction control off.....

Allegedly one can then steer it with the rear wheel while the front wheels drift ......much like drifting a car, he said.....not something I felt I could do, so the TC stayed on although I wasn't aware of it kicking in .

The other key point was on corner entry to brake as hard and late as you can to make the most of the front wheel grip as that's where its strength is.

I was assured that, at the launch, Ian Cobby took great delight in riding round the outside of people on regular bikes, drifting as above.......I am no Ian Cobby, so I ride as above, fully aware of the fact that I have plenty to learn in how to ride a two-wheeler on track never mind this bastard son of a Morgan

After the above discussion, the tyre selection became a little clearer in that the standard Bridgestones probably facilitate riding in the above manner, albeit that the Trike will never be a "track weapon".

So, in summary, I have plenty to learn regarding getting the best out of the Niken and I think this is what makes it such fun........one day I will master the three-wheeled drift and, hopefully, keep it shiny side up

I would have never considered one had you not demonstrated how capable they are

I went to see the Niken and it looked great and was comfy to sit on. Thought I’d think about the 3.5k to swap (ouch) and maybe book a test ride next week.

I then rode the 1190 I’d be trading in up to Lancaster and back over the weekend which was about 400 miles in all of a road, motorway, filtering, sun and torrential rain. What an epic bike the KTM is, I’d be mad to get rid of it, it’s perfect for what I need it to do and I’d really miss the power. So I can stop watching Niken YouTube videos now.

So the 13th has rolled around and I've done my 5 days since testing positive for covid so I'm knackered but ready to play again. Thought I'd had it a month or so ago but that was, apparently something else.

It failed the noise test. 104db with the baffle so I’m on the Honda.

I’ll look on eBay for a standard Exhaust when I get back.

Mart, our other brother had a 55 plate 636 - C1H?- and istr that it got a bit close on noise at times. I think it had a Yoshimura can at the time.

Glad to hear the day is otherwise good, Mark. You're feeling a bit more comfortable with the Blade today and the lurgee has not affected you much, then?

I was disappointed that the Zx6r but admittedly not massively surprised. Will pick something up to sort it.

Did the first two sessions and felt totes toss and thought I’d not make it past lunch, the front felt pushy and I was a bit fed up.

However, chatting with Gary from the 1000rr forum and he suggested making some changes with body position that he’d seen if needed to do following me for a lap which I tried out. Half was moving my upper body to the inside of the corner at lot more than I was and the rest was getting my arse off the seat more. Played around with upper body movement first as I was knackered and I thought that would be easier. It was as it happens and it also completely transformed the day and the way the bike was feeling. So there you go, most of my problems were down to me holding on to the bike too rigidly and I just needed to relax. Happy days.
