Just ordered the top box arms (so I've ruined the looks already) and the crash bungs. Had 10% off code from insurance and 30 quid sportsbikeshop voucher so got both for £124 and had 100 quid kicking about from xmas. Nice.

Still not sure on the screens yet and I've not ridden the bike to see how bad the wind blast is so at least I've got a bit of time.

Just remembered I might also need to order another ball mount thing for my Sat Nav. The one for my KTM the bolt has welded itself to the ball sleeve. Gonna try and free it off but it's pretty bloody stuck. Still only 18 quid for a new M8 one

3 fucking pages and you haven't ridden it !!!

BTW my screen came from Thailand, bought through ebay, I looked at all the options you have and thought they were wank.

Yup it has less than 2 miles on the clock and until the rain last night Herts have salted every night since I got it and there is no way on this planet I'm riding a brand new bike in the salt unless I have to. I'll end up riding it for an hour and then spend 1.5 cleaning it. I'd rather wait till the salt goes hopefully Thursday. I didn't ride my 690 Duke for almost 2 months when I got that so not bothered in that respect.

Meant to go back through your thread to look up your screen. I can't view ebay at work and only been looking at work so far so hence no ebay options yet.

I can't remember what make the screen is, it was the only one I liked apart from one by a French company who never replied to my emails.

Good decision on waiting until you've ridden it before choosing a screen. If you're 6ft or above the relatively low bars on these type bikes means any screen directs turbulence right at your lid if you're tall.

As I said in my thread, the OEM Yamaha one actually created a dangerous swirling of the rain right in front of my visor which I couldn't clear. I changed for a bigger screen which helps a bit, but I've yet to try it in the rain. The bigger the screen the more effective, but also the more ugly. TBH, I suspect I'll end up with no screen...

Looking at screens this morning on ebay (still not found one I like) I strayed into looking at exhausts, not that I want one. And surprisingly for a modern bike I think the OE can looks better than the aftermarket options.

Having said that the OE can sounds really good, nicely fruity with that deep big bike IL4 burble. And it screams at the top end from riding the test bike.

No they bastard don't. The Ixil on my Z750 were ear bleedingly loud and the bitch still knocked me off.

But what about all those people who didn't knock you off?

My GSX-S standard pipe is loud enough, the Ixil that was on it was annoyingly loud with the baffles in, and the bike was slower than standard, with the baffles out it's offensively loud, so loud I couldn't be arsed to find out how fast it went.

I pondered the options with my MT-07 and finally decided on the latest SC Project with a cat. It's got a lovely burble to it but without being anywhere near offensive. I so nearly went for the Akra but it doesn't have can on as such and I just couldn't get used to that.

Had a family day out today and thought I'd missed my riding chance but got back at 4 and thought fuck it I'm taking the bike out. Did 50 miles

1st thoughts.

Wow what a mighty engine. Revving to 6k it does 87 in 6th, but also 70 in 4th and 65 in 3rd  fueling is silky smooth in all gears unlike the test bike. Even short shifting all the cars go backwards real quick. Any revs, any gear there is just mountains of shove. Being honest the engine is overkill but I think it's gonna be fun! Gearbox is like butter 8-) average MPG for the ride was 48! Fuel range said 140 from when I filled up to when I got home about 37 miles later so guessing it's working it out still!

Handling can't really tell as I was being a pussy as it was freezing and brand new not great tyres but feels good all the same. Needs more steering input but think it should be a great handling.

Brakes feel a bit wooden but moved the adjuster from 2 to 4 to get more lever travel and felt better.

Suspension at the pace I was riding at felt perfect, certainly better than other budget bikes I've ridden/owned. Much more controlled than the Duke. No bounce at all but also not so stiff it jars over bumps.

Riding position felt great. My knee was aching today when we were out and it was a little sore on the bike but think that's the cold more than the bike. Reckon it'll be comfy over a fair distance. Windblast at 75-80 was OK to be honest so will see how that pans out.

All in all I'm a very very happy boy. Can't wait for riding season :obscene-drinkingcheers:
