The front stand works ok for most bikes, but I found with mine it was hard to get your body weight over the rear end at the same time as pulling tight on the strap. There's probably a technique, but I didn't use mine enough to perfect it. Should be ok with the Yam,I think my bike carries a lot of weight on the front.Taipan wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 1:53 pm I've finally used my abbastand and I'm quit impressed at how much more accessible it makes the bike over a paddock stand. Thinking of adding the front wheel lift, as it looks like a good accessory for it. Anyone got one? Happy with it?
I just put summat heavy on back of the bike.Skub wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 5:10 pmThe front stand works ok for most bikes, but I found with mine it was hard to get your body weight over the rear end at the same time as pulling tight on the strap. I'm not sure you're the person to be advising on ABBA stand correct usage.........Skub wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 5:10 pmThe front stand works ok for most bikes, but I found with mine it was hard to get your body weight over the rear end at the same time as pulling tight on the strap. I rang ABBA who rang DPD to redirect it but they wouldn't! So rather than wait for it to get back to them, ABBA sent another out today so I'll get it Monday. Customer service as it should be!![]()
12 miles away in South Woodham Ferrers. So, yes, I could easily go and collect one but I can't be arsed!Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 1:54 pmCouldn't you just go and pick one up, ABBA are somewhere near TilburyTaipan wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 1:49 pm DPD didn't deliver to teh parcel shop yesterday saying it was too big for the shop to acceptand it'd be redirected to my house today. Lazy git, I'm amazed, a new bit of bike related gear and you're not chomping at the bit to get your hands on it, if I was that close I'd get it from them and probably end up spending the whole afternoon there and spend twice as much as I originally intended.Taipan wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 1:59 pm

I have the front stand and one thing to really pay attention to is the position of the main section that runs parallel to the bike. Too close and it can fail on the bike. Also, as said, getting your body weight on the bike whilst doing the strap is a bit of knack. The Abba guy made it look so easy!!MingtheMerciless wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 5:16 pmI'm not sure you're the person to be advising on ABBA stand correct usage.........Skub wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 5:10 pmThe front stand works ok for most bikes, but I found with mine it was hard to get your body weight over the rear end at the same time as pulling tight on the strap. If the truth be told I'm glad its not here as I'd want to use it and crack on with getting the tyres on the MT. But I'm on loft clearing duties and cant really interrupt that whilst the wife is here to help or I'll have twice the job next week on my own. Sounds like she's really busy up there too!Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 2:10 pmLazy git, I'm amazed, a new bit of bike related gear and you're not chomping at the bit to get your hands on it, if I was that close I'd get it from them and probably end up spending the whole afternoon there and spend twice as much as I originally intended.Taipan wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 1:59 pm

You keep telling us you don't ride for fun anymore.Taipan wrote: Sat Oct 29, 2022 1:54 pm It got delivered this morning which is great but also as annoying as I thought it would be. So much other stuff to do and I just want to put my tyres on and go out for a ride!
Not really a question of riding for fun. Yes, I miss riding the MT as its probably the best bike I've ever owned. But I also need to know I can ride with my leg bent for an hour and still get my foot down quickly when I stop and support the weight of me and the bike etc. I think it'll take a few practice runs to get it all feeling natural again and I go back to work in a couple of weeks. If I can't do it safely just yet, I've got to find and buy a scooter...Yorick wrote: Sat Oct 29, 2022 4:00 pmYou keep telling us you don't ride for fun anymore.Taipan wrote: Sat Oct 29, 2022 1:54 pm It got delivered this morning which is great but also as annoying as I thought it would be. Sadly it isn't. I cant seem to lift the front and pull the strap at the same time. Think I'll have to trolley jack it up then secure it with the strap!Skub wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 5:10 pmThe front stand works ok for most bikes, but I found with mine it was hard to get your body weight over the rear end at the same time as pulling tight on the strap.
