Re: My next bike
Already on my list in the OP as is the XSR and Tracer. I'd have a Yam triple over a Triumph I think. I loved the engine in Weeksy's XSR loads of fun. I suspect the 09 range will be in the front running I just hadn't got to them yet in actual bike ads.

For a Ducati, that is quite grotesque!KungFooBob wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 9:29 pm It's only money, you can't take it with you, you can't put a price on happiness, etc...

Re: My next bike
Why does painting a bike blue make it look better?
There are some bikes on here that could do with a lot of blue paint.
When I was looking I thought Triumphs were expensive for what you got.
The CB1000R is a really good bike, but it really needs different bodywork and painting silver with a blue stripe.

I'm sure they're all very capable bikes, but nothing pretty has turned up yet.Potter wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 1:57 amThey might be capable but I would definitely not describe them as a beauty.Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 6:03 pm or one of these beauties. You can carry them out. 8500 though.

It is, but it's still better looking than the Yamaha or Suzuki versions of their naked bikes.
There isn't much that's pretty in that genre these days.
When did it all go wrong?

Re: My next bike
Looking at what's on sale at the moment something similar to these
Suzuki SV650,prettier than any current monster
Moto Guzzi V7 range
Ducati Panigale V4 S Some of the old style monsters were pretty, not the new ones
Honda Africa twin's are the least ugly looking ADV bikes, but are to big & heavy.
Yamaha T7 & tracers don't look to shabby, can't say the same for the MT or XSR range...
Kawasaki Z650 & Z900 Some of them look alright,some don't.
KTM I don't ever recall seeing a pretty KTM roadbike
Triumph some of their 'Modern Classic' range look pretty
Royal Enfield The Interceptor range look pretty
BMW 1000RR Sportsbike,R9T range,& the F850 GS looks alright, the exhaust would have to go though..
In fact the exhaust's on most of them would have to go
One thing I've noticed is that a lot of the roadsters,MT series Monsters etc all have a low front end & look worse for it..
Most of the ADV bikes all seem to have grown a beak over time & look worse for it
Just my view,it's all subjective

Re: My next bike
I really like the MT range. It's probably the first range of bikes I've liked for decades! Normally I'm a bit Henry Ford when it comes to colour schemes, so it surprises me a lot that I have a bike with fluorescent coloured wheels!
It took me a long while to get my head round banana swinging arms, but the stubby exhaust always reminds me of my old Honda Bros, which was one of my favourite all time bikes. The exhaust is a stroke of genius compared to the hideous affairs most other bikes have. When I look at the side profiles of the MT range, the lines are right and compliment each other, well providing you remove the snow shovel of number plate hanger, but most bikes have those afterhtoughtsl

Re: My next bike
Of the ADV bikes, the first gen Multistrada 1200 Enduro in the Khaki Green is such a lovely looking thing.

Re: My next bike
Yup I find myself drawn to this colour scheme of 09. I think the fluro wheels do it for me as it reminds me of watching racing in the late 80's/early 90's when I was a kid seeing club racing with lots of fluro wheels going on. For the 09/Tracer I'd be looking at 2017 on when they both got updated.
In stark contrast to the gaudy MT colour, in the Tracer I find I like this dull odd drab green colour

Re: My next bike
Based upon what both @Couchy and @Dodgy knees have said i think the Tracer version may disappoint you.
The MT09 in the above scheme is great and with the addition of the QS must make it a good buy of course.
Now it's getting to spring (honest, it's coming) i'd be lining up as many dealers as possible for a test ride on the main list. A bike can be decided in a matter of minutes sometimes.

Re: My next bike
As with all bikes, angles are everything. Sat on bike, 1 or 2 o clock usually win. Aggressive front ends, maybe exhaust on show, single swing arms etc. But yeah, looks are important and that includes colours.
Nice angle.
Think Tracer 900s run gen 1 years 15 -17....gen 2 18 - 20...gen 3 21 >

Re: My next bike
Yes I noted that as well. Sounds like the MT's offer a bunch more fun and coming from the 690 fun is pretty much top of the list. I'll try a Tracer just in case, but it does sound like it's probably not for me.
Yup I have some time off in March so plan is to try as many bikes on the list as possible. Hoping some might have multiple bikes to make the process easier.
As with all things with me buying a bike will be a long time coming with lots of dithering and then I'll see the right deal/bike and it'll be done same day. I think for me is getting all the dull stuff lined up and decisions on what bike made will take the time. But the right bike usually is obvious once it happens a bit like the 690. I went from 4.5k max to brand new on a single ad.

Re: My next bike
LOL it's just a bike mate.... pick one, buy it.... use it... either keep it or sell it.
You're not a daft lad, you know what engines you prefer or not. It ain't that hard.

Re: My next bike
This, buy one and get on with riding it, they're all good bikes but ugly, pick the one that suits you best and buy it, I spent far too long waiting for someone to make a bike I liked the looks of, it never happened so I bought the bike that suited me the most, which was pretty easy for me as there was a choice of one bike with the engine I wanted.

Re: My next bike
This 'in real life' is definitely a thing. I'd seen the new pictures of the tracer 9 and thought those long panels looked hideous, saw one irl the other week and was pleasantly surprised. The clocks are still terrible though. Not keen on the wheel thing on instrument panel either, shared by mt09.
