Yeah they really are. Irrespecitive of what figures i've seen, the 790/890 is a physically small bike, like both feet flat down for someone 5'7" type small.

I was talking about MT-09s, I can't remember how big a 790/890 is, about the same as a Honda Superdream springs to mind.

Ah right, yes, the MT09 is a chunk physically bigger than a 890 that's for sure.

I'm 5, 9 ish. On tracer it was balls of feet at a stop in low seat position. On mt I'm flat. When you lift one off the side stand and sit on it, ywkwim.

Weirdly Yamaha say the Tracer has a slightly lower seat height than the standard MT-09
Being a short arse I doubt if I'd find either that great, I'm ball of feet on my GSX-S, which (according to Suzuki) is an inch lower than the MT-09.

The solution Is the l/h chain adjuster off the 09SP.
Got one on the xsr and stops the wife getting a damp back!

Well, a £12 mudguard came in the post. Its on, im saying no more.

So you've removed the tail end that fitted the bike correctly, added 2 other parts that look shitter and liekly work worse than the one that came off all because ? errrrrrm

Tbh it doesn't look too bad. 2 biker neighbours agree. This is an improvement as long as it works. You could easily cut your own from some 3mm plastic sheet. If it's an improvement but not cure, I will buy some and go 1 or 2 inches further all round than that one. It now sticks out proud of tyre.

Next week I will go for a test with my hot gloves and a big smile.

Had a short run today, birthday card to brother. Heated gloves got maiden voyage and seemed decent enough if a little bulky. They can go away now.

Anyway, my confidence in the mud flap is sky high, enough to initiate rack removal and associated plastic bits. Does look much better without but will go back on when needed.

Oh ye, started bike this morning and engine management light stayed on. Switch for adjusting TC and engine modes not working. On and off same. Did about 20 miles to brothers and still on, bollox, ring dealer Tuesday. Had a cuppa at brothers and showed him EM light and hey presto all good. Will see how it goes.

Is it worth ringing dealer to let them know. ??

Width of the bike (seat, engine and so frame etc) make a difference to how easy it is to get feet down.

Plus compliance of suspension set-up.

Took it out today, about 70 miles, no more EML. Think I'll ring them and call in to find out what caused it.

I've come to the conclusion that the 2021 mt09 has a major design flaw. Rear end protection. The pillion area of seat at it's narrowist point is 180mm, same as tyre. No plastic overhang so spray is inevitable, whatever you do with the number plate area.

You could have a numberplate 10 x 20 and spray will still get you from the side's. On my Tracer I had a Yamaha tidy with a 8x6 plate and no spray problem, side plastics would give protection with a wider pillion seat and more plastics. Plate in similar position.

It's a brilliant dry day bike, will be great fun on a dry track, but when the clouds come in, hide.

Pondering it's future.

Too much spare time on hands at 63 Shropshire, so after returning home from a frosty woodland walk in the mud I found a package. A4 3mm black plastic.

Well, there's only one thing to be made out of this and another mudflap was created, this time slightly bigger as I had seen improvements, possibly.

25mm all round plus 35mm bottom edge. As it's bigger it looks worser, but it keeps me busy and outdoors.

God knows when I will test it out but it's on and staying for now. For £3 it's worth a punt. No reflector required.

So, what you reckon.

It works as an ugly thing.

Not so sure about the spray fix.

Let me explain this simply to you

If you turn up with that to Pembrey, you may find when you wake up it's amazingly been eaten by cows, but weirdly they'll have completely put the bike back together for you.

Like some bike's, looks better in real life.

...and from a distance with your eyes half shut you can almost not see it because of tyre background.
