Rossi will be the talk of the paddock, his proteges, his academy, his ranch, his new bikes, new riders, new this, new that, new merchandise. You've got another 20 years of it.

I wonder if Marquez would have joined in the celebrations

Regardless of personal opinion on VR,it's the end of an extraordinary era. The newbs coming to the fore now will take away some of the sting of the big yellow missing bit and it wasn't like Doohan who was still fast, but left the scene in an ambulance,Rossi kind of wound down and let us become accustomed to him not racing at the front.
I feel honoured to have watched him race and if anyone in bike racing deserves the title of legend,it would be mean spirited for his name not to be mentioned.
I'm also glad he got out in one piece, fit and healthy.

My wife always says that Rossi reminds her of a small woodland creature - I've no idea why.

I can't ever remember all the riders in a race assembling together at the end of it in front of that riders fans for their last ever race. They did that for Rossi though.
I remember seeing him on a few occasions when he lived in Pimlico, London for a while when he was 125cc World Champion. He rode a Yamaha WR supermoto so was easy to spot if you knew who he was. He lived here because he found he was pretty much anonymous.
A few friends I went to Valencia with said that they will be over again next year, but only for tye festivities in Elche on the Saturday night, and probably won't go to the race, as there is no one else (yet) that will be as popular as Rossi is.
