That looks like the Bumhole, you're on a bit of a tight line.

Snetterton is fun on any bike, I've ridden a tired TZR250 that would barely scrape 100mph there and it was fun, there are more corners than there used to be, there's no scary bits, no slippery bits and longish straights, loads of run off if you are the twat that gets the session stopped, so you're unlikely to get hurt.

And the facilities are a lot better than they were 30 years ago.
The Bombhole my usual corner i marshalled at and went on to be the corner commander. Always busy and when it went wrong in a bad way i have had to duck as bikes flew over the tyre wall ..... hence the massive new catch fencing behind the tyres now.

Remind me its fun on any bike early next year and i might come along and join you for a day ..... Going there in 2 weeks as my son is doing another car day there and will get out with him for a few laps in the passenger seat

I'm starting to think I'd like a trackday after always dismissing it. Oulton is closest, 45 minutes away, then Donington is about 1hr 30m from me.

I'm still concerned about being surrounded by mostly faster riders and will spend the whole time looking over my shoulders.

What is the typical cost for trackday insurance?

Are tyres important for me as a novice? Road Sport 5's on the Trident.

1. Insurance doesn't exist. I've never had any of our newbies crash in their first day.

2. Road 5s are perfect.

When you go out on track hang back and go out last, anyone fast enough to lap you will be a good enough rider to pass you cleanly, whatever you do don't look over your shoulders, look where you're going, don't try and get out of the way for people overtaking you, it will make you unpredictable to pass, if you want people to pass you just back off a little on the straights.

Ride predictably, have fun, don't worry about how fast you are.

The forum has a trackday weekender in South Wales at Pembrey race circuit. Good place to start and plenty of names you will know. 👍
