Well the MTs home, bit damp but missed the rain. First ride highlights, QS is brilliant, you end up just changing for the hell of it. Comfortable riding position and heated grips are ace. Easy to read display but will need to do some reading. It will need a small screen and something for attaching luggage straps. Other than that, it's good to go. Btw, you do need main dealer service to maintain warranty. Not cars apparently.
Bollox. Those clauses were made illegal a while ago.
I fought and beat Suzuki twice.

The Yamaha dealer told me that when I asked the question, but I suppose he would say that.

Call Yamaha and report the illegal advice.

Yeah tell them Yorick from the internet told you it was so, that'll do it
Seriously though, I know that the block exemption that applied to cars didn't to bikes in the original law, but that was a good few years ago now and I could be out of date on that so he may be right- I doubt it though and if it were me, I wouldn't take Yozza's unsubstantiated statements as fact and would look into it if you are serious about doing it.
What's your reason/objective - purely saving ££ or because you think the main dealer mech's won't do a proper job?
Irrespective of the Block Exemption law, the key part to be aware of IMO though is that every manufacturer has a free right to set out their own servicing requirements, so In the event of any problem the onus would be on you to prove that the servicing had been carried out by a suitably competent person in full compliance with Yamaha specs , and that only Yamaha approved parts and lubricants etc had been used.
Doesn't stack up for me in the risk v reward stakes if you value being able to just call in warranty , WHEN you need it.

Must admit for the price of a 1st service esp which is usually not too bad I'd do it for the warranty alone.

i keep telling you, we're not on your island. Even booking something in is £70-90. Then a bit of oil at £40 and a check over...
UK dealers are £70-90 an hour, all day, every day.

I still remember UK prices. Full service on my GSXR was never above £200.

No. I used D-Tech at Postcombe.
Ex Suzuki trained mechanic. Ex racer.
Top lad.
I needed the bike to be in tip top condition for the track.

That sounds about right- my MT10s were both £150ish from memory, that was a few years ago though.
A nice surprise on the 765 was that it was only £80- you only pay for the consumables, the labour is FoC on 1st service on Triumphs, which I didn't realise until I got the bill.

I'm going to dealer while in warranty. 600 mile first service. £145. Dave Jones Newtown. The decision is in 2 years time, probably swap bike then.

Don't think they do alot though. Stamps in book are good i suppose.

I've ordered a givi sports screen now, as I had originally ordered an alloy one from the US from Aliexpress for £20 ( Google search ). I'd seen same thing for over 100 so didn't think it would ever arrive. This morning it arrived and will fit while I wait for givi, then I have two.
Moral of the story, Aliexpress works.

Define full service
Oil, Filter and plugs? Oil, Filter, plugs, coolant and brake fluids? Oil, Filter, Plugs, Coolant, Brake and clutch fluids, all bearings checked, linkages greased, valve clearances, shims replaced ?
Things may have moved on ..... a full service even on labour alone will be closer to 350 quid if anything has to be opened on the engine for valve clearances etc .
The Multi Full service with the full belt change and desmo valves and shims as well as everything i listed above is closer to 750 quid at an independent including parts ..... make that almost a grand for a Ducati main dealer

Yup. Was proper full service. Garages steal from you.
They charge 70 - 90 per hour. The mechanic gets 20 of that. The garage is raping you for the rest.
