Re: Do you just go for a ride?
Sadly this year it’s just been commuting to work and back with the road bike with one track day, soon to be two and no racing

Not recently but generally I feel bikes are far more about the space between my own ears than all that looking for likeminded friends shite.
So, yeah just go for a hoon and maybe just with one mate or so.
Done group rides and they're OK but not really for me, I'm just not that responsible.
I have a very few good mates, not really looking for more. Might revisit that idea later when they start to croak though.
Edit, when more of them croak. Few good ones have gone already.

Whenever go to to ride don't plan anything....just go and on the road and plan according to the situation
Re: Do you just go for a ride?
I just go for a ride. In fact my Mrs says "Will you just bloody go for a ride!"!! I'm one of those that finds it good for the soul and it doesn't matter where or why I'm out.
I love the loop option on my satnav, calimoto app and myrouteapps. Just select one, press go and that's it. I thought I knew most of the roads around here but it finds others. Some not so good and some great but I enjoy the change and the variety. With the route in the satnav I don't even have to ponder when to turn etc.
When I have a silly idea like going to the most easterly point, a three day jolly to Wales, I fancy fish and chips at Aldeburgh, etc I stick in a destination and choose one of the twisty options. Sometimes I'll stick in a waypoint if I fancy a particular road but it's all pretty free and easy.
I just ride for the joy of riding.
