I took mine off the turbo trainer and put it in the van (eventually, it and other stuff disagreed with my decision to put it in there!!)
The government are running a scheme where the 50€ of a ‘service’ on a bicycle is free to the owner. So I plan to drop mine off with a friend and ask him to only do 50€ of work!!
Turbo trainer is on sale on one of the local pages as I still can’t use the bike on it (due to shoulder) and won’t be able to keep it set up for the winter!!!
Here’s hoping Graham doesn’t find anything really wrong with it!! I need to try riding it again in the summer!!!

When we were out at the weekend i noticed my dropper post stopped working. Dead as a dodo.
I've owned it 4+ years now, maybe even 5.... Emailed Magura and they said "send it back, we'll have a look"
24 hours later, a box arrives "here's a brand new post as a good-will gesture as you've had some issues"
Awesome awesome service !

I managed a 25k ride (on the flat) - with only a minor skirmish with pedestrians ( walking 5 abreast over a cycle route) . Apparently, even though I was coming behind them "I was going too fast" ( How the fuck did they see!)
Then I went to see the osteopath, to give my should the one over. He did. I can hardly move it now!
The good news it is just a serious sprain of the AC ligament ...

Fitted new Nukeproof Horizon short stem (35mm) in a very fetching anodised blue colour and black aluminium Nukeproof Neutron handlebar, 800mm wide with a 38mm rise. Old set up was a 50mm stem with a 780mm handlebar, zero rise.

Mrs M went to go out on her old E-Bike today (winter machine, she's saving the Hanger Queen Levo for summer days) and the motor felt very notchy. So I stripped motor off and opened it up. The big ring bearing was now a squaring. New parts ordered (£20 of bearing and O rings, grease £20 and special seal kit to protect the ring bearing better £35).

Rode it 20 ish miles in an hour and a half, got covered in crap and mud in wet, sub zero wind chill conditions. Didnt crash, Grinned.
Got home, hosed it down, applied some GT85 and threw it back in the shed

Today I've been in the garage with the lad.
He's got what they call a mini bike. It's mini because it's a bike for 5-6 year olds. Anyway they're often found jumping it in the woods, without brakes.
It's had a tough life and was feeling sorry for itself. So we set about cleaning it, taking it apart and making it better.
Forks were removed along with the most horrible cage bearings, then the cranks, again with horrible bearings and the most bizarre locking mechanisms known to man. All were re greased and put back together.
Last was the rear wheel which was offset to the left. It again was a cage/cup and cone type setup but has 4 locking nuts to enable us to thread the axle through and move the wheel over towards the chain side. All done and spins lovely now.
Next job is to true the front wheel but it's not terrible.
Sadly we'll never get it 100% as it was a geared bike and he's got it single speed. To get the tension right we basically need 1/2 a link more or less on the chain. As it's standard vertical dropouts we can't tension the chain so we have to improvise a little.
He seems interested and learning though, which helps me out.

End of an era today...
Sold my Magura Vyron dropper post.
In the last 5 years i've run several Vyrons, all have been 'quirky' but recently over Xmas it died when i REALLY needed it. Re-cabling a dropper through the frame is a proper pain in the arse and takes a lifetime and cut fingers lol. But it's an effective and simple thing generally. When the Vyron fails though, it's game over and makes the day basically unrideable.
A couple of weeks ago i had 'sagging' issues where i was trying to ride and it slowly slowly sagged, maybe 10s to drop, but wouldn't stay up.... then it was stuck and wouldn't power up...
So sent it back to Magura, who've now fixed and sorted.... but it's time is done and it's sold.
