People gave us the ‘it won’t last’ and ‘she’s mental/he’s mental’ tripe. adore her just as much now as I did all those years ago.
Hold on. I deffo said you were both mental and I stand by it. But you deffo proved it can last 😆

Hey, sometimes the right mental finds the right mental, that definitely works 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’d apparently said I knew fuck all about bikes on the forum and had been quite barbed about folk that just sit around and talk about bikes ( doesn’t sound like me). Nicki turned up with a pack of ‘Top Trumps bikes’ for me and we just clicked. Ended up back at hers that night, via being picked up by Weeksy from the train station (I’d missed my last train). Nothing dodgy happened that night but we clicked.

Went on our first date Feb 25th, moved in together April when we discovered she was pregnant ( so didn’t have to do any of the moving boxes!).

Had two kids. Whilst flying over Australia, I took the opportunity to ask her dad for her hand in marriage. We both had phobias of flying, so I thought it was good timing. I reckon I could have asked him for his wallet and he would have said yes 😀

He then died soon after and we decided to have the wedding at their local church. I’m not religious in the slightest, but it meant something for them.

I had a light ‘stag’ in Cambridge then a traditional night out the night before the wedding. I do not, and I cannot stress this point enough, recommend doing this. A load of my Cambridge uni mates and I went to a rural pub quiz in Oxford, they found out we were Cambridge and I was getting married the next day. This triggered two things: regret when we stuffed them in the pub quiz, and everyone and their dog seemed to get me a drink. I’ve no idea how I got back to where I was staying.

Next day was wedding. I’m not sharing photos- wife looks stunning, I look as though I’ve been run over and then bummed.

Her lucky number is 8, so we were married 080808. After the wedding service, we all turned to the back of the church and baptised our daughter.

Now 5 kids, eldest 20 and youngest about to turn 14.

Yes, but you always look like you've been run over and bummed!

I remember the night you two met, I think it was the evening we got barred from the one half decent pub on Holborn because Go Slow was insistent on his right to shout "CUNT" loudly across the bar every 30 seconds! :D (In other words, a typical mid-week evening)!

Well, to continue the rest of the plot, as you've established, Nicki was my mate just before becoming Doccas other half...

She then set me up with a random lass who was also into bikes and rode an SV650. They both came over and me and said girlie hit it off and that was pretty much it, since then we've been together 19 years.

Our wedding was a standard church affair, big dresses and big suits... Crust was in plaster as he'd crashed something and broken his wrist.

We all got in trouble about 10pm as the dance floor was empty of men, no-one could work out. Until someone found all the blokes in a random room in the place all watching match of the day.

I wasn't hungover, but i was deffo tipsy at the local pub was on the way to the church, we stopped in for a few before the wedding.

I'm 6'2" and my ex wife's family is all short (tallest her eldest brother at 5'7") I once commented in jest that "I felt like Snow White" at a family dinner.. the ex MIL blurted a short laugh but everyone else was stony faced :silent:

1997 , no church, all in local hotel with marquee and nice gardens. All pretty straight forward, except the ending. 🥴

It's a long day, lots of booze and back in the wedding suite the new Mrs D was getting dressed up for me in the bathroom, suspenders, stockings, etc etc. However, the newly married me fell on the bed and was spark out until morning, not a great start and immediately in the bad books.

Didn't last long though and we're soon on a lovely honeymoon, but she does mention it from time to time. 😁👍
