Never go back - it is never as good as you remember.
Bikes, places, jobs, women,................
Try them once and see if they are as good as you remember. If not get shot.
(This may not apply to jobs)
Or ex-girlfriends.

I bought a second Laverda ater having regretted flogging the first one, the second wasnt quite as good so I spent a pretty penny at laverda scotzia trying to make it better it did the trick, engine wise, the down side was I didnt ride it as much as the ZZR AND it was a RH gearchange, in the interveening decades I had lost the total ability to be swapping gear change sides without a thought. This annoyed me and I have sold it and bought a posh E MTB which I use all the time. bit of the, never meet your hereos again?, or buy one! It did look the bollocks though.
I had a look at one a few months ago*, but I doubt I could ride one these days (I'm a bit shorter now). I put my '79 up for sale after a high speed blast across Europe. The ride wasn't too bad for the most part, it was the three days after that it took to regain the ability to walk normally again. Almost came a cropper when I went over, instead of around, a roundabout on the A1 at about 4am.
*It was all there, but really needed to be stripped to the frame & everything plated, painted or polished etc, it was a bit tatty.

If it's a Kaw, buy it, if it's some lesser marque, forget it.

Only ever had 2 Kawasakis. First ZX6R I blew the engine up first day I had it.
They wanted to give me a new one as replacement.
But I said it was slow so they let me upgrade to ZX9R C2.
I blew the gearbox in 4,000 miles.

Is there another way?
First day out on the ZX6R I got into a race and was screaming it. Missed a gear and it over-revved and smashed the engine. The rev-limiter failed.
Less than 100 miles on engine

What happened when you brought it back? I'd loved to have seen the salesman's face.

The rev-limiter is to save the engine. It failed. Not my fault.
Within 2 days Kawasaki wrote the bike off.
