Is it the Bud Light approach to market success?demographic wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:10 pm You have to break from tradition to get younger people to buy Jags cos who the fuck under about sixty currently buys em? Piss them off and they'll provide any publicity required, looks like its working a treat.

Not sure that comparison works fully unless the perception of Jags is also that it's tastless pish.JackyJoll wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:32 pmIs it the Bud Light approach to market success?demographic wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:10 pm You have to break from tradition to get younger people to buy Jags cos who the fuck under about sixty currently buys em? Cars owned by the elderly? Hell yes and at some point they have to encourage the next buyers to want their cars for a while before they see the purchase as being a luxury they can afford.
I reckon at the moment the perception of Jags is that its an old duffers car.

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
I probably wouldn’t like Bud Light either, but it was selling better before the trendy ad campaign with the nasty little man. There’s a concern that this dancing weirdos advert may have the same effect on Jaguars’ business.demographic wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 3:06 pmNot sure that comparison works fully unless the perception of Jags is also that it's tastless pish.JackyJoll wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:32 pmIs it the Bud Light approach to market success?demographic wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:10 pm You have to break from tradition to get younger people to buy Jags cos who the fuck under about sixty currently buys em? That makes sense to me, but I wonder if the next buyers are very impressed with the ad.Cars owned by the elderly? Hell yes and at some point they have to encourage the next buyers to want their cars for a while before they see the purchase as being a luxury they can afford.
A strongly adhesive reputation! Maybe their best hope of shaking it off is to make very good cars.I reckon at the moment the perception of Jags is that its an old duffers car.

I wonder if residuals will plummet. This old boy would be up for a cheap f-type convertible!

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
Silly thing is, it's not even a woke advert really
It's more along the lines of high fashion and haute couture, its just that certain segments of society get wound up by anything which isn't white bread and immediately run off while screaming "woke".

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
Were talking as though the old man version of Jaguar, even the SUVs are still a thing. Castle Bromwich closed some time ago.
If you look at Jaguars website it says:
"New sales of our current generation of vehicles have now ended, with the exception of I-PACE for Fleet & Business"
Jaguar as we know it could be a thing of the past and the future could be anything, probably battery powered city cars judging by the advert.
Whatever it is the old version wasn't selling so they can start from scratch and just keep the name

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
They're going EV only and they're aiming to move the average price of their cars from 55k to 'around double that'. They're shutting most of their dealers (most of them will remain as Land Rover and second hand petrol Jags TBF) and only keeping the ones in wealthy areas.
First new car will be a 4 door GT with probably more than 1000bhp.

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
My daughter has a French bulldog that I often walk with my bull lurcher, daughters dog (Patches) is deeply conservative and quite reactive. Can't walk past a slightly flappy binliner without a fit of barking. Thing is his barks sounds like he's shouting "Woke, woke"
So what I need to ask is are there some super reactive people on here who are frightened to the point of apoplexy by slightly flappy placky bags?
