2.5% pay rise.
It's better than a poke in the eye with a shitty stick.

...also, more holidays and sick pay!
Went I first started here two years ago I couldn't believe they didn't do sick pay, not that I'm ever ill. It's now 10 days for every year of service!

I've had the letter now rather than the word of mouth.
10 days for less than two years service, 20 days for two to five years and 40 days for five years plus.

I think its 6 months full pay then a further 6 months at half pay at our place. I know I got full pay for the 12 weeks I was off after each knee replacement!

My first Christmas hosting the parents was a success.
After my mum doing Christmas for 53 years I wanted it to be nice, and my prep and planning paid off - I reckon I did more planning for it than I do for most stuff at work
Made it back in time to not overcook the beef (my main concern). And the only thing that failed were the Yorkshires (think possibly the oven wasn't quite hot enough).
I'm proper chuffed.

How many film references did you spot?

Too many to remember, but off the top of my head:
Octopussy/Bond
Speed 2
Mission Impossible(s)
Matrix
Aliens
Was it Cape Fear, with Feathers doing the pull ups?

BBC repeated the documentary on Aardman and Nick Parks.
It includes Matt Groenig [Simpsons] talking of ripping off a scene from W&G Wrong Trousers.

I thought of The Shawshank Redemption (the hole behind the poster) and, at the end Michael Caine saying 'Hang on lads, I've had an idea'.
The Matrix was another possible.
Guest appearance by The Farmer from Sean the Sheep too.
Dunno about Cape Fear.
Some of the background detail was pretty impressive too. Cracking good stuff from Aardman.

(Hard to imagine that Gavin and Stacey got more viewers on the day).
