I use the Google Translate app a lot to improve my lingo.
Just discovered that I can talk into it so decided to improve my pronunciation
Started with summat simple.
Sandwich de atun sin mayonesa.
It seemed to struggle my Yorickshire accent

I can't remember which app I was using, but it struggled with my Lancashire accent. I think it would have struggled with any non American accent. The word was "damp". I tried pretty much every variation of vowel sounds: "damp", "demp", "dimp", "domp", "dump", without success until I tried it with my best American accent with two syllables. It liked "dayump" and translated it for me.

Think there's a lot of over reaction to the picture tbh...

Advert on my Friendface (that I don't use because I'm not over 65).
Bit of a poor show from JD sports?

Agreed. For accuracy it should have been on a stolen scoot.

I've got a DVD from some young chap who shipped his C90 to Thailand and rode it back to the UK... He walked up to Basecamp in his trainers. I guess that's the easiest bit tho' what with it being near the base
Was a great watch, I should dig it out and watch it again.
Edit: it was Ed March.

330 dead apparently, 125 of those were sherpas. (That's attempting to get to the summit or on the return).

It was a while back now but I made a conscious decision in my 30s that I wasn't going to be one of those flags.

I saw it from 6 miles away at Kala Patthar, 3 weeks before my 68th birthday.

You've probably got time left for a better view.

And they don't decompose ...
And, as well as an open mortuary, it's also a massive rubbish dump.

I think K2 has a higher fatality rate than Everest. The numbers are lower, 96 dead out of 700 or so summits but it is a very dangerous mountain to be on. However, it's no walk in the park just to get to base camp and it was first successfully summited in 1954. It's a serious endeavour to attempt K2 whereas Everest has become a bit of a tourist resort.
