Back from a week down south. Lowest Diesel i had was 1.37 and one motorway shit hole was 1.65. Never noticed till i was almost full and the prick had the check to say we dont accept Scottish notes. Well you go and sook it back out my tank then as if you dont take this money i am away as i offered to pay. He took my money. Mot the first time in Wales. Last garage was a small town down a valley and the old buy again "We dont take Scottish money" my replay was "Well we are fucked Boyo unless you want to suck it back out" Fucking idiots. Had a few encounters like that but never in Englandshire. I did have a guy in Cornwall hold it up to a window. Think the angry look on my face said "Put it in the till you prick and hand over the change"Saga Lout wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 12:00 am Petrol prices coming down. Bank of England notes are the only banknotes that are legal tender in England and Wales. Scottish, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and Manx banknotes are not legal tender in England and Wales. However, they are not illegal under English law and creditors and traders may accept them if they so choose.
A "no means of payment" (NMoP) incident occurs when a motorist fills up with fuel and then claims they can't pay. While NMoP is generally considered a civil offense and is often a genuine mistake, it can be treated as a criminal offense in certain circumstances.

What nonsense! The answer to such a problem is to be in England without any English money and swear about “pricks” on the internet.

Be fair, if it was his first trip south of the border, he might not know about the notes, or that motorways petrol includes an idiot tax in the cost.JackyJoll wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 11:14 am What nonsense! You can usually find fuel 20p or 30p/litre cheaper just a few minutes off the motorway, the only time I used motorway filling stations was when I had a company car and a fuel card. You know, spending somebody else's money.

Stick £10 worth in to get me home (with a reserve for getting caught in congestion etc), and Tesco just across the road to fill up

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Driving to work this morning on the M6 not far from Penrith and there was low level mist in the hollows and the treetops were just poking out of that mist.
Looked like a Japanese painting.
Then after turning onto the A66 there's a bit of fell just past Cross fell thats that perfect sloped shape. That was sticking out of the mist like a shortarsed version of Mt Fuji.
It's been about as nice a day all through as it could be.

Apparently there really is a good chance that the TdF will finish in La Plagne at some point (stage 19 apparently)
Confirmation will be announced the 29 October!!
So if anyone wants to come and watch, give these guys a shout to book!! www.thelovelychaletcompany.com
Given that the road past their chalet has just been resurfaced, we’re taking bets between ourselves that it will pass by!!!
(If I’ve moved to a bigger place I’ll have some sofa/floor space too!!!)

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
As most are aware, I've had a spectacularly shit few years (7 and a bit to be almost exact!) and I know that I've not been "me" for most of that time.
I've had a couple of good/interesting things happen recently and also, stuff is happening that makes me thing the light at the end of the tunnel is NOT an oncoming train - but, not counting on it yet!!
Anyway - what made me happy today? Chatting with a mate I've not seen for a couple of months and updating whats been going on and how things are progressing and she said "I knew stuff had been getting better, when I saw you as I walked in, you are shining. You just have an air that is brighter and happy"
Well, WOW!! What an awesome thing to hear after such a long time of feeling like shit - even after the mock and exam weeks TBH!!
So, I'm now grinning as well! (And the couple I saw up here before I got home said something similar, a bit less forcefully! But still awesome)
Anyway, have a fab evening from a Noggin that is feeling like life might be getting good again - and the universe 'MIGHT' be leaving the baseball bat alone
(I say 'might' cos I'll believe that when everything works out! LOL)

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
We went to another Uni open day today - over in Leeds. I'll not share my feelings about the bit of the city centre that we saw, for fear of causing offence. It was a shit-hole.
However - youngest had directed us to a park-and-ride which we used, was great. Bus ticket price was £2.50 (return!) for the two of us. According to my phone we were charged 10p. What a day!

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
I also went out on my bike, first time for a while because of other grown-up life stuff.
It was lush. Sunshine, dry roads, almost all the overtaking opportunities were lacking in incoming traffic, passed a fair few bikes as well, who I'm sure had their reasons for tootling, but made me happy as I zipped past on the toy Duke.
