No,I would have been seriously interested if it was available at the time I ended up buying my 675R Street Triple,but I didn't like the looks of the MT09's then.
Fun engines but the carbs are a nightmare on mine.
Might be because I've slipped a vmax engine into a Venture though.
Seem like I can either get it to run well or get decent fuel mpg. Have never been able to marry the two up. Shouldn't be too surprised though as even the stock venture wasn't exactly what I would call "good on gas". Best I ever managed was 35 mpg. With the Vmax engine it's 25-30 mpg on a good day with light throttle. It's usually down around 22mpg when I'm "having fun"....definitely no longer a long distance touring bike. Tank is bigger than the vmax, but not that much bigger.
It's a full vmax setup, from the crank right up to the airbox. Carb work is a PITA though because the frame isn't "kicked up" the same amount over the carbs like the vmax frame. Getting them out is a major effort involving much cursing and tool throwing. Jetting the thing was a major pain because of that and something I care not to get into again.
I use an Ignitech with programmable servo control to run everything. Vboost is functional and completely programmable. So is the ignition curve. Took a while to get all the programmable parts dialed in, but runs like heck once sorted. It's also running a Vmax rear diff, but I slipped a complete royal star gearset into the cases. Combined with the rear diff, it gives me nice low "digger gears" until 3rd (great for handling the extra heft over a stock vmax), then a deep overdrive in 5th. 4th is pretty much the same as a stock venture. This was also in the years when they had the second gear/washer issue and the shift sector issues, so swapping the newer transmission dealt with all those early issues in one swoop.
The bike itself is actually an 83, I've just swapped on the 86+ rear bags.
Fun bike, even with the extra weight. Funny as heck when a kid on a 600cc hyperbike pulls up at the stop lights, he gives it a couple hard revs and you leave him sucking tire smoke at the green and wondering WTF just happened......it's a perfect stop light sleeper. I just wish I could get wider rubber on the back. Was working on a custom rear rim for a 180 tire, but haven't touched that project in a couple years now. Kinda lost interest when I saw how much I would have to do the rear arm/driveshaft area to get that much rubber in there.
Gotta be upright and pointed where you want to go if you grab a handful of throttle though or it will leave big black snakes and toss you into the ditch.

The giggle gas you have on yours would be too much for this bike though. It would just make it dangerous on anything but a straightaway....
