Well, the French throw a strop as well as any 3 year old!! They don't want to see who comes in 3rd / 4th, they wanted to win !!
England supporters are probably the same ??
I do have to wonder at this. If a British Olympic athlete comes home with a bronze, everyone is delighted for them. England come 3rd (hopefully), 4th if not, and there's talk akin to national shame.
I reckon to be 3rd/4th out of the 48 that qualified ain't that bad.

Exactly what i keep saying to people. If you can't take pride in that, maybe find another sport to follow...

Well, that and the ticket prices for the 'also-ran trophy' are probably a bit juicy.
£22-25k for a final ticket too

...they still have a few left.
It's probably like the Premiership and the FA Cup. There's the winner and....who cares/remembers?

Totally agree. But having sat in the bar for hte Spain France match and watched half the bar leave at half time because (I guess) they thought France would lose, supporters are weird !!! LOL
I might watch depending on what time I get home and if I might stay awake - I do plan to watch the final but suspect the fainting, falling and diving will wind me up a treat

Yebbut...many of the people crammed into bars around the world aren't football supporters, no more than people doing the same during the Olympics are supporters of the events they watch. It's just 'vibe-riding'.
How many of the World Cup watchers went to see a match last season? (Or have ever watched a match live for that matter). How many of the people in bars would bother watching matches at home? It's a social event...and that's not even a criticism...it's fun to be in a pub/bar with a bit of bantz and play at being a fan for 90 minutes. So, 'Oh, we're losing, let's go somewhere quieter'. C'est la vie.

I'm glad we got 3rd or 4th and it is an achievement, but yeah not bothered enough of which to watch a late match.
